Being homosexual is definitely not a contagious sickness. In the first place, it's not an illness. It may be trendy in certain circles to pose as a homosexual but sexual preference is a serious matter and for those who strongly identify as a homosexual, it is not a trendy act.

Absolutely not. Studies are showing that you are almost definitely either born with your sexuality genetically hardwired or you develop it at a very early age. I believe that your sexuality is yours and cannot be influenced by external sources, it's 100% within you. A more likely scenario is that having a gay friend has introduced your subconscious to the idea of exploring the boundaries and flexibilities of your own sexuality, something that you may not have pondered consciously in the past. Don't worry, it doesn't necessarily mean you're gay, or straight, or anything. It just means that you're going through the natural process of self-discovery, something that literally everyone experiences at some point or another. Just remember to trust and be true to yourself throughout. Good luck!

Why should being gay be considered a disease. I think it is incredibly narrow minded when people make statements such as yours. I have never seen any argument that could support something just like what you said. I do be live that people have the right to decide whether they are heterosexual, homosexual, asexual, or whatever else they feel like being without being treated like lepers.
The argument of "It is not natural, so it must be wrong" is sooo lame, if that were a valid argument, then driving cars, flying planes, using clothes and computers should then also be considered diseases. After all, I have never seen an animal using his laptop while driving a car to go to the airport dressed in an Armani suit, now, have you?
By the way, I am a straight and not narrow person. I simply support people having different choices than mine.

The relative percentage of gay people in the population is stable. They are not obliged to hide that is why you "see" more gay people.
Being gay is not an illness or a fashion. It is how the brain is wired. You can't fake it or get "cured" of it. It is just how some people are. No big deal.

People are born gay, it just seems that there are more of them because they are not afraid to be who they are. In the 50's and 60's more gays were in the closet and were getting married to hide their true identies. Thank God that now they are coming out of the closet so they don't have to be in unhappy marriages and their husbands or wifes and kids do not have to suffer with them living a duel lifestyle.

It is neither contagious nor in fashion.
As society (slowly) becomes more tolerant, the tendency is for people to become more confortable with who they are.
Maybe that's why there are more gays, more people with tattoos, and etc; society used to hold much more prejudice against them in the past.

Theres not more gays now, they are just not trying to hide themselves any longer. If you are straight they can not turn you gay. It is merely a difference of do you like to look at boobies or dudes muscles. Can someone else change whether you're a tit man or a leg man> Of course not.

In high schools it's a popularity statement.
Though they usually prefer to say they're bisexual than gay.
