i need to know why the immigration laws were first set in U.S.

It was the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. Too many Chinese people taking up jobs of white people. They were better workers than whites. It was mainly jealousy. Whites believed they were becoming too rich and too many. They would overpower the "natives". THis one was enforced very strictly worked and lowered Chinese population since many went back to China but actually it strengthene them because they built their own communities: Chiantowns where they would be very strong and could have their own businesses and do as they please.
There was one other Alien and Sedition Act of 1798. I don't know if you would count that in but it wasn't enforced.
