I guess ur using Internet Explorer 7 as this option is onli available on IE 7. U can click on the small window just on the right side of the tab that u opened. U can see a * sign, + sign, then the name of the website u opened and then a small window. Move ur mouse there and then click on it. A new tab/window will open once u click on it. Then just type the name of website in that window and the rest is normal. U can close the tabs individually in case if u want to close 2 tabs and keep 3 more on 1 window (in which u opened 4 extra tabs). Total tabs opened=1+4=5.
Its very easy. Please try it!!
Thanks!!

Unless you are running the new beta version of IE or have a toolbar capable of utilizing tabs, you can't. If you have the Yahoo! toolbar you simply click the big + button next to the open tab. Or right click on a link and select open in new tab.

control+T to open a new tab, or right click on a link and select 'open in new tab' from the context menu
both of these require IE 7 to work, however.
