I want to use while working out and running.

It really depends on what qualities are more important to you. The shuffle would be good because it is so small (about the size of a pack of gum and weighing less than a car key) and would not interfere with your workout. The smaller one (512MB) holds about 120 songs, equal to over 6 hours. Once you start running or working out, you probably won't want to play with the thing anyway. On the down side, you don't get to choose which song you'll hear next. You can set it either to play everything you loaded onto it in that order, or play it in random order. You'll want to set up a playlist in your computer for workout music and plan it very carefully before you put it on your Shuffle. On the plus side, it's relatively inexpensive - about $70 for the 512MB and $100 for the 1GB (which holds over 12 hours of music).

The nano is more expensive, at $150 for the smaller (1GB) model. However, for the extra $50 you can set up multiple playlists and choose from them when you're working out. You could have a warm up playlist, a running playlist, a weight lifting playlist, an up tempo list, a slower tempo cool down list, etc. You can even put an audiobook on it, if you'd rather listen to that. It's about twice the size of a Shuffle, but that's still pretty small. You can increase the size, doubling the capacity to 2GB for $200 or 4GB for $250. (For that price, however, you might as well spend an extra $50 and get a 30GB iPod video.)

Ipod Shuffle Vs Nano

iPod nano because it has more features than an iPod shuffle. Not just that but, an iPod shuffle won't be able to to show you what kind of songs you're playing and you won't be able to look at photos or play games. (Just to tell you, the iPod nano had came out with a new feature. Now you can put any game patches from your computer into your iPod). Although the iPod shuffle is small, it's much cheaper than an iPod nano. Hey, it's your choice.

The shuffle is a good 2nd Ipod. It is better for working out bcs it can go around your neck, has a longer battery life, and with no moving parts is more durable. However, for everyday use, the Nano is a much better investment (it will save you time being frustrated trying to find songs on the shuffle since there is no screen).

If all you want to do is work out and run, and you just want to hit play and forget about your music, save your $$ and go for the shuffle. But they can be a little flaky in skipping songs. I liked my shuffle for a while; loading it up before I left for a run or workout wasn't too different from picking a CD in the "old days."

The Nano is something else entirely. Now that I've used both, I prefer the nano. It's easy to pick and change songs (say you're moving from strength training to cardio) and there's more flexibility in terms of capacity (biggest shuffle is 1GB, biggest nano is 4GB).

All in all there's no easy way to answer your question. Try them both. Consider how you'll use them. And then get out your credit card!

Depends on what you're looking for. Both are pretty small, so good for work outs. I don't like the shuffle, because i want to view my choices of what to play. I have a nano, and it's great! One positive in favor of the shuffle is that the nano scratches easily -- you can always buy a case, but with the shuffle, you wouldn't have to worry about a display screen scratching.

I would say the Ipod Nano. Not only does it have screen so you can see what song your listening to, but it's easy to set the order then the Ipod Shuffle. Plus it's smaller so you can fit it in your work out gear while running. Becareful though it is exspensive and you won't want to break it while working out. I would probally recomend a cheaper MP3 player then and exspensive Ipod Nano.

Well it all depends on how much you make and also whats available to you but if ou have enough go with the nano it provides much more better technolgy you can know what songs you play plus if it does break while you pik it up then before buying you should buy extended warranty for the parents who are cheap trust me it will be better if you buy it becuase then you will have to spend alot more mony to fix the product then just spending 10 more dollors also the nano is more cappable of holding more songs and it has a handy screen which tells you all of the songs u play and wat your doing and u can create a playlist nano is alot better

Well, the shuffle, you can't see the songs, but the nano is fragile, put it in your back pocket, sit down, the screen will crack, so, it's preference, you have to be more careful with the nano, but you can't see what songs you have on the shuffle.
