It depends on what your "undertone" is. I am fair-skinned, but I am a blond, so I have yellowish undertones. For this reason, things with gold tints look good on me. If you are similar to me, warm colored make-up shades will look best on you (avoid purple, blue, etc; instead try golds, browns, etc.). Other fair people have pink undertones, so they look better in cool-colored make-up shades. These people can wear purples, blues, etc.

From what you say, you probably have pink undertones (most red heads do). But, to be sure, just think about what color clothes look best on you. Do you look best in blues and purples (cool colors) or peaches and golds (warm colors)?

Mary Kay has an awesome virtual makeover sight. It already has colors customized for skin tones. You can play with that on your own, or you can contact a consultant and she will find a "Signature Look" that suits you specifically, based on skin tone, eye color and shape, hair color, and lip fullness. Visit www.marykay.com and click "Find a Consultant" to find Beauty Consultants near you. Or, email me at jdurbin923@marykay.com, and I'll do the Signature Look for you and email you the colors.

PS - Mary Kay is world wide, so you should have no problem finding consultants in Canada :)

It really depends on your skin tone, hair color, etc. The most direct way to find out would be to go to a makeup counter (go to your favorite brand that you tend to buy from over and over) and have a makeup artist give you a consultation and makeover.

You should also definitely check out Makeup Alley www.makeupalley.com . There you can see product reviews, read and post on boards, check out what other members with fair skin (in their profiles) have had success with. It's a really fun and comprehensive site. I usually read product reviews there first before I buy.

good luck!

Unless you are going for a rocker-look (which I like and I like the black eyeliner and dark lipstick on my paleness) more light brown tones for mascara and eyeliner; blush should be more pink-rose-petal, and lipstick should be a very light pink, coral, a very light beige, neutral/glossy, and similiar. Eye shadow I don't like, and never use, but I would reccomend golden tones to bring out light in your face, things with shimmer

i'm very light myself and that i positioned on just about any hues of eyeshadow yet i hit upon that shimmery hues seem the most appropriate. A bronzing powder grant you with a wholesome sunkissed seem and layering a rosey blush on correct can provide a effective organic flushed seem. i attempt to adhere to lighter hues on correct because otherwise I have a tendency to seem as if i'm headed to a goth live performance. i love vibrant blues, pinks, and pinker hues of red. be careful with the red reason now and again it really is going to intensify darkish circles lower than the eyes. don't be self unsleeping both, a lot of adult men like light dermis it really is about searching wholesome. Cate Blanchett is way customary as an celebration.

Make-up for Fair Skin

If you’re fair-skinned, sheer colours look best on you. Apply light earth tones and soft pastels, such as blue and lavender to accent your eyes.
Various shades of pink will look good on your eyes, cheeks and lips. Keep your mascara to brown or brown/black. Light, sheer lipstick adds a finishing touch. Peach is always a good choice for our fair-skinned friends, it looks natural and compliments your skin colour.

You would look the best in earthy tones and in pinks, peaches, and golds. I would stay away from blues and darker purples. Also, a PERFECT blush for you would be a peachy tone!! You should really try it I promise it will look fabulous!

Everyone can wear every color... but not every shade and intensity. For example, all redheads are warm in undertone, and let's say medium in intensity (since we can't "see" our fake red head.) If she wanted to wear something in red, a tomato red would be best for her. (Warmer hue of red, medium to dark intensity.)

Someone with let's say black hair, no hint of red, would have cool undertone in her hair, and let's say she has pink tones in her fair colored skin and blue eyes with no hint of yellow or green. She would have cool undertones. So if she wanted to wear red, she would wear a red with a hint of blue in it. (Towards burgundy...)

As for make-up the differences in let's say blush is woman #1 would wear shades with hints of peach, browns, and lady #2 would wear shades with hints of pinks, purples or neutral skin tones.

As for shimmers/ sheer tones, that depends if you have oily skin or not. For people with oily skin, they tend to not like too much shimmer... it adds more shine to their skin, which they are trying to minimize.

Same goes for lipstick shine. I have dry/normal skin and I love gloss & shine in my lip colors. I for the life of me could not figure out why anyone would buy "matte finish" lip color. Then I learned, that typically a person with oily skin prefers it because they have enough shine, where I on the other hand am trying to add shine to my face. DUH! Made perfect sense.

A GREAT book if you want to not only learn about make-up, but also clothes and style of clothes, earrings, haircut etc is: Color Me Beautiful, Looking your best, color, make-up & clothes. It's white. You can find it on eBay, Amazon and your local library.

What ever you do, use SPF! 9 out of 10 wrinkles are from the sun!!! Even on cloudy days, and fair skinned people are the most vulnerable.
