Do you consider yourself disabled?

Question

For those who do have disabilities, just a question anyone can consider. Plus a challenge question for those who were always told that they were inhumane because they have a disability.

I have Adhd, and "emotional" problems...I am called "disabled" and I know I have problems, but to me things are"normal" Lol, really since no one is perfect, what is a disability?

I consider myself disabled although the ADA does not. I have severe chronic migraine. I have never been able to keep a job. I have the most severe pain according to the World Health Organization and am paralized about 4 or 5 days a week. There is no cure for migraine. I have tried many treatments and they either don't work or I cannot tolerate their side effects. People rarely sympathize, it does not "show" anywhere, and anyone who has not experienced it thinks that it's just a headache.

I have a disability and I own a business, graduated from a great college, drive an awesome car, and pretty much do whatever I want to do, so no, I don't feel disabled.

If anything I feel more abled than the people who are able-bodied and sit on their butts all day...

According to the ADA I am but I don't feel like it.

Quick story about little Joe.

Joe is a three year old and has Spina Bifida. Joe used to go to preschool at the last place I worked. When Joe was wheeling himself down the hall one day, he looked up at me and said, "I have special needs!! Do you have Special needs?" thinking of my answer carefully, I replied, "No Joe. I'm just typical (a word comonly used in the special ed community)" Joe replied back to me with a boisterous "HA! HA!" and wheeled himself on down the hall.
Joe is not disabled. Joe has special needs and in his mind, that makes him superior to me and my typical body.
