To who ever said I was discriminating myself, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to, I'm sorry. You make a good point.

I know a lot of people say it's because originally white people thought black people were 'primitive', or 'barbaric', and some people still think that way, but my personal belief is that a lot of it is GUILT!

Every white person knows that in times past blacks were treated like dirt by whites. And they know that black people know it too! So that makes them self-concious ... but they personally didn't do ANYTHING wrong!! So that makes them irritated. Then, because seeing black people makes them feel irritated, they start to get annoyed with them!! Black people don't even have to do or say anything to have that effect on people with a guilt complex, but it ends up with the white person not wanting to be near the black person - so the black person is pushed (metaphorically) to one side, for example they don't get the job, because either the boss has the guilt complex or he knows some of his customers will - and he doesn't want to upset the customers..! Or the white girl's parents object to her marrying a black guy, even though he's got a lovely nature, a good job, and he loves her to bits!
; )

Of course, there's still a minority of white people who genuinely believe that black people are the equivalent of animals. THAT is far more disturbing than anything else...

It's odd though, but all these problems seem much more obvious in America - even though they weren't the only country abusing black people in that way. Maybe it's because Americans have another, deeply hidden guilt complex. About the fact that their ancestors stole the land from native Americans, murdering them wholesale into the bargain.

They discriminating against the african people because they didn't take the time to understand their way of life and thought because they were white they had a right to do what they want. especially if a race of people were not christains they think it was up to them to convert them into civilalization. they needed workers so they sold them like people sell sheep or something it's disgusting. They did the same thing with the native americans they tried to assimilate them into their way of life not taking into account that the native americans survived their own way of life for centuries..no more astrocites have been commited than in the pursuit of christanity.

Stemming from the fact that African Americans originally descended from Africa, the European Caucasians saw the African peoples as being different, so decided to use them as a scapegoat (much as Adolf Hitler used the Jewish people as a scapegoat for Germany's post WW I problems, even though the Africans and Jews haven't done anything wrong). The original Africans weren't Christians, which was seen as heresy by Catholic Church, which worked hard to convert Africa to Catholicism, and when the Africans couldn't understand their English, or could understand and refused to become Catholic, they were likely killed or tortured. Modern-day racism against African Americans comes from slavery, in which whites became infatuated with the idea that they themselves were a G-d chosen "superior race", whom were given the "divine right" to terrorize and oppress anybody who was different than themselves.

Because they used to be slaves...they were always discriminated on until they started getting rights. (Even after that they were discriminated against.) I think they still are by certain people because of the sterotype that all black people are lazy, don't work hard, etc.

Well, if you're talking about black people, then you yourself are discriminating. You see, not all black people are Americans (they can be Canadian, British, Mexican, plain African, Australian, or any other nationality there is). Also, not all black people are African, they can be Jamaican, Australian, Cuban, etc., and collectively calling black people "African Americans" is racist and presumptuous. Because most of the first africans were brought to America as slaves, so some people think of them as less than themselves, but these people are racist *******.

because they were slaves for centuries and were viewed as underdeveloped and primitive people. That stigma has remained and until recently we as a society are finally breaking through it.
