Looking at the full episode between Pilate and Jesus Christ may reveal much more...

"Therefore Pilate said to Him, "So You are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice." Pilate said to Him, "What is truth?"'

In response to Jesus' mention of 'truth' in John 18:37, Pilate responded rhetorically with cynicism, convinced that no answer existed to the question. The retort proved that he was not among those whom the Father had given to the Son ("Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.").

In John 14:6, Jesus says, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."

In essence, Jesus is truth, and no one comes to the Father (God) but through truth.

Furthermore, John 1:1 says, "In the begininning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God."

John uses the phrase "in the beginning" in an absolute sense to refer to the beginning of the time-space-material universe. "was"; the verb highlights the eternal pre-existence of the Word, i.e., Jesus Christ. Before the univers began, He always was. "was God" The Gr. construction emphasizes that the Word had all the essence or attributes of deity, i.e., Jesus was fully God. Even in His incarnation when He emptied Himself, He did not cease to be God but took on a genuine human nature/body and voluntarily refrained from the independant exercise of the attributes of deity.

So, the truth, the Christ, the Word of God are one.

Truth is something that is unquestionable or undoubtable. Truth is a straight up, and absolute fact. You mentioned the word beauty, and beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder, thusly it is questionable or doubtable. Therefore beauty is not truth.

Truth. Is it something tangible or visual? Is it a fact? I think the definition of truth is relative. What is true to you may not be true to me. Most of the time our beliefs become the bases of what we perceive as truths. You may believe that what you believe is true.
