The first Ammendment only bars Congress from establishing an official religion, Not that Religion can't be included in our politics.
As you walk up the steps to the building which houses the U.S Supreme Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the world's law givers and each one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward with a full frontal view-it is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments! As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors have the Ten Commandments engraved on each lower portion of each door. As you sit inside the courtroom, you can see the wall, right above where the Supreme Court judges sit,
a display of the Ten Commandments!
It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore, it is very hard to uunderstand why there is such a mess about having the Ten Commandments on display or "In God We Trust" on our money and having God in the PledgeofAllegiance. Why dont we just tell the other 14% to Sit Down and shush up!

I don't think anyone ever said that you can't talk about religion. You are not supposed to make laws based on religious beliefs. If we did that, very little would have changed in our country's history. I agree with you on the Ten Commandments thing. I think you may be preaching to the choir, so to speak. But as they say, "The sqeaky wheel gets the grease." That doesn't make it right, though. I don't see a question here, so don't be surprised if you get reported for ranting, because you aren't really supposed to do that here.

Because the very nature of a democratic republic is to protect the other 14%! Did you learn nothing about your own system of government in school? You sound like you are endorsing "mob rule". Mob rule doesn't work. I'm quite certain more than 86% of Americans think they should get a 50% pay-raise tomorrow, too, but that would destroy the economy!

The 86% you cite is also for "belief in God", which doesn't neccessarily mean YOUR God! So it includes lots of folks who don't use the book that has those "Ten Commandments" in it!

that's a 2-way street. The pilgrims spent months at sea, starvation and vicious winters to flee non secular persecution at domicile. that is why non secular freedom is between the cornerstones of this us of a. i'm a Christian and that i don't love having the authorities regulating abortion, similar-sex marriage, etc. i trust that even God would not intrude in our ability to make our own alternatives, so how can the U. S. authorities placed themselves above God?

I agree! if there are foreigners that do not like our way then send them packing.
If you don't believe in God then that's your right, but shut up and let the rest of us practice what our forefathers intended for this nation.
I find it amusing that we are knocked around by the middle eastern people that don't like us, but they sure are quick to take our money with In God We Trust on it. The same goes for the atheists out there. oh yeah and the language here is English! I think it should be a law that everyone that comes in to our country not only speak it but read it and understand it fully.
Not to mention use it while out in public.

What you were the minority, how would you feel if there was a giant Buddha in your court room?

Look at life from a different angle and see how policies and ideas could effect others.

And the question is?

Your analysis is flawed but I doubt you care.

This is just another bit of right wing drivel which distorts the facts (or reveals ignorance of the facts).

"Many" want to say you can't talk about religion? Who's "many"? Can you name some names? Nobody's saying you can't TALK about religion, you just can't base a law solely on religious faith. Take your straw man somewhere else.
