What if you find the penny at the end of the day? Does the luck last until the end of that day or does it go on for 24 hours? Just wondering.

You should wait to pick it up until the next day because the good luck only lasts til midnight!
So, leave it where it is until early morning so you can enjoy an entire day of good luck!! ☺

You actually get 24 hours, PER PENNY, so if you find 4 pennies at once, you get good luck for the next 96 hours.

I think it only lasts until the sun goes down. Of course, I get super paranoid about not picking the pennies up and I'm just sure that the bad luck is going to last all night.

Oh, it's definitely good for 24 hours. Pennies aren't mean enough to just give you just a few hours of luck.

Definitely 24 hours of luck. I have heard the rest of the rhyme goes something like this: "...But see a penny and leave it lie, surely luck will pass you by"!

I never heard the rhyme before. I have heard that the penny has to be facing up. If it's facing down and you pick it up, you have bad luck. I think if you pick it up at the end of the day, you're screwed. Leave it there till morning just to be safe.

I have never heard of this type of superstition, I've always heard that if you pick up a penny when it's heads up, you get good luck. If it's tales up and you pick it up than you get bad luck for the rest of the day. superstitious

i think you have good luck for 24 hours for every penny that is heads... and bad luck for 24 hours for every penny that you pick up that is tails.
