I worked at the same company last year and did excellent work. They no longer have to pay a fee for an employment agency, but they gave me a $1 raise. I feel that I am worth more. I am making a lot less than my friends for the same work in a comparable company.

There is nothing wrong, but it will not look very good. The purpose of internships is to pretty much give you a trial run before they think about giving you an offer. If you are asking for a raise at an internship they might not give you a permanent position later, thinking that you will want more. My suggestion will be to suck it up and if they give you an offer later for a permenat position you can ask for more then saying that you have gone through two internships so the cost of training you will be less than someone they bring in freash.

Um, well you don't want to seem "greedy" so I would say dont ask for a raise. What you could do however is consider looking at other companies. Take your skill level and move on to something bigger and better, which really is the purpose of an internship. Good luck

if its an internship..you shouldnt be getting paid...but also...your friends company could be doing a little better than the one your working at. And dont say that you know they do the same business....because you as an intern dont exactly know the current bank balance for the company do ya?? NO.

You might want to consider working for the other one ....

Mention it and see what they can do for you....maybe take your supervisor out to lunch and mention it over small talk...just say...i was wondering if sometime soon you could make time to talk to me about my responsibilities here and what im making an hour....

If you are using it as a credit for class now, then no you cannot. They are doing you a favor, not the other way around. The best raise you can get is a letter of reccomendation and an A. Sorry

yes, i think it is wrong. your working an internship so its kind of like them doing you a favor to get experience and a feel for the industry. you have no leverage in that kind of position. so either deal with it or go to another company

I would just be happy that you're getting paid at your internship -- I worked for an entire summer, got paid zilch, and then had to pay my college to get credits for what I did. HMPH!!

I have been in your shoes....One dollar raise the next year of the internship. I was fine with it, but if you think you deserve more, ask....it can't hurt.

It's an intership, not a career. Be glad that you get to come back each summer and not have to look for something new.
