I agree. And that's why I do not really understand this - you are letting some other, absolutely strange person to raise and educate your child. If you would think about it this way, it is really stupid. Of course, if there is a need in daycare (both parents work, single parents, etc.), then it is acceptable. But I know families with Moms, who do not work and stay home, and they put their kids in daycare centers. I think there should be a golden middle. Kids must be raised in families, otherwise you can get some surprises.

I'm not about to say anything against someone who puts their child in daycare, because I realize some people, for whatever reason, don't have a choice. However, from birth until maybe 3-4 years old, I think it's very important for a child to be raised at home, by the parents, rather than a daycare, if at all possible. My wife stays home with out daughter and I think it's a great thing. She gets a lot more one on one time. I guess it does depend on the daycare, but I know so many of them just can't give each child very much attention. They say a the first two years of a child's life are extremely important in shaping their mental/learning abilities throughout life and I just don't think a lot of children in daycares get the attention and nurturing they need.

As you have stated in your profile, you have no children. So until you have children of your own, maybe you should not question how others raise their children. Parenthood is not easy, and outside childcare is necessary for many families. The reason those parents have limited time with their children is because they're out working to support their children, something all responsible and caring parents do.

First of all not everyone can afford to stay at home and not work outside the home. I have both of my children in a wonderful daycare and they get all of our attention when we get home. They are very happy well rounded children and have made lots of friends at daycare. There is a huge difference in sitting for children and rearing them. Thanks for getting my blood boiling!

Looks like the day care is...good point...but at the same time we have to make those sacrifices to put food on the table and clothes on there backs. It's the sacrifice you have to make, in order to make sure that your child has a better childhood than you did.

Lord have mercy, here we go again. Do you really have so little to do during the day that you have to stir people up on Answers?

I work 40 hours/week, my kids go to school 35 hours/week and daycare after school for about 10 hours/week (before they were school age they were at daycare the whole time, obviously). I make their breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner, bathe them, help them with their homework, read bedtime stories, and kiss them goodnight. I taught them their ABC's and 123's, helped them learn to walk and talk, potty-trained them, and taught them how to ride a bike. I break up their fights, wipe their tears, and put band-aids on boo-boos. I take them to karate class, dance lessons, wash their clothes, run errands on my way home, and clean up after them. I've taken them to doctor's appointments, cleaned their puke, and cried my eyes out with worry when they wake up at 2 AM with a temperature of 104. We have "Movie Night" on Fridays, watch cartoons on Saturday mornings, and have "Family Day" on Sundays. I love my children and would give my life for any one of them to be safe and happy and healthy.

What part of any of that makes me any less of a parent than a stay-at-home mom?
