why do players flop so much?

yeah ... it has more to do with the b*** ification of the american male .. We are moving toward a society of more crying , whining, complaining, gossiping, decidedly un- masculine men.
lIke the whole he said/ he said crap with T. O, or shaq and kobe. I

We all agree that Soccer is full of Dives. But, this is a strategic game so it all comes down to strategy. If you were a player and you had to score or atleast control the ball to score but you saw that you couldn't get to the pass of control the ball and the defender is giveing you a hard time. You DIVE. You pull the foul. It's like when a Pointgaurd drives to the middle and collects a foul to send a player off with their 5th foul. It's strategy to get Big Shaq off the court so you can drive to the middle. It's the same deal in soccer. You dive for reason, not because your a sissy. THough, i know some players that dive because they can't stay on their feet (these are the sissies)

its the one thing i hate most about the game but players flop because they know they've lost the ball and can't win it back so they flop to make it look like they were fouled and i think the solution to getting it out of the game should be a red card for the player that does it

they are trying to get a foul called on the opposing team.

since there is no replay or second opinions or anything like that in soccer - it's all the judgement of the referee on the field, they do this to gain an advantage, or at least take a chance on getting one.

interestingly, you can get a foul called on you (or even get a card) for flopping, so there are limits, although certainly more calls get made because of a flop than on the flopper.

They are trying to get the advantage for there team. Did u see how the refs were giving out yellow and red cards. Hell, I would prob flop if I knew I could get the other teams best player out of the way.

Well 70% of the time is becuase they were fouled and it hurt at that moment and they want to be acknowledged for it. The other 30% is just for show to gain favor with the ref and possibly get the other player a card or sent off, or just give them another chance with the ball.

They are trying to draw fouls. Every athlete is gonna do stuff to try to get an advantage to himself or his team (i.e. Baseball players...you know what im talking about)...That being said, FIFA is specifically trying to crack down on diving and so far they are doing a decent job of it...its still there but the divers arent getting many calls, though they arent getting punished as often as they should

2) Some play great in their clubs, but when placed on a national team, their level drops significantly (Shevchenko, Raul)

3) They just had a bad tournament. It didn't go the way they hoped (toni, Drogba, Van Nistenroy)

4) Some have old and fresh injuries, and never the same (owen, Koller, and Toti)

It's all part of the psychological part of the game they use to try to draw fouls on the opposing team and sadly all too often it works. However, watch the refs - if they see someone who drops and whines too much, they start to ignore them. As a result the whiner runs the risk of really getting hurt and no one calling it. Sort of like Chicken Little running around yelling the sky is falling.
