I always had problems with my name, as people did not recognise it, weren't sure whether it was a boy's or a girl's name, and weren't sure how to pronounce it. We lived in several countries and also realised that some, sometimes very common names, have a ridiculous meaning in another language. So in order to avoid as many problems as possible, we gave our children names which are pronounced as they are written in any of the European languages and have no silly meanings in any of those (at least, as far as we know!!).
Our kids love their names and even though we live in Spain and our children attend a Spanish school, they have no problems!

For what it is worth:
* Emma Kirstin
* Odette
* Nils
* Saskia

Stay away from last names as first names for a child (especially a girl) unless it is a family name (like your maiden name or something). That is just one trend could do without.
I like Lillian for a girl because she can be cute, little Lilly while she is young but be strong, independent Lillian as an adult. There are too many boys names that I like (which was a problem when our son was born) but I really like Benjamin. My impression of a person named Ben is someone you can always depend on. Who wouldn't want that for a son?
Why didn't we choose Ben for our son? Well, our neighbor and friend is Ben and we didn't want it to look like we were naming him after him - LOL!

Congratulations!

My personal preferences are quite old fashioned names, for example:
Boy names: Oliver, James, David, Laurence, Alexander (Alex), Daniel, Elliot,
Girl names: Alexandra (Lexie), Lucy, Lucille, Cara, Tara, Georgiana, Charlotte (Lottie)

Wishing you both a happy birth!

I like Lilly for a girl, and Leon for a boy. I know Leon is a bit unusual, but "little leon" sounds so sweet! I had a baby girl 7 months ago, she's called Freya. I like May for a girl too, or Marley.
