alright, first of all, if you're calling yourself either punk or emo, then you are in fact, neither...no one is "emo" or "punk" it's strictly two different types of music, so calling people "emos" or "punks" is just plain stupid...as far as the difference in music, emo is like punk's more mature older brother... both music have similar themes, it's just that emo presents them in a more mature manner, or at least used to...emo is now too broad of a category due to the mainstream level the music has reached, so indie would now be the better and more mature alternative...just a little education for you on the subject...enjoy

Emo stemmed from Punk hence the confusion. Punk is just punk... pretty much, just punk subject in the music etc, rebellious, anger at the most. Emo subjects seem to complain a lot about things, and subjects of death and suicide are common.

punk is more hardcore where as emo isn't and alot of people confuse the two. Punk people usually have the tattoos live in their dickies where as emo don't. And grundges can also be somewhere along the emo line it's really all about are you more hardcore, soft and emotional or just don't give a ****!

A LOT. I'm emo, NOT punk. In my opinion, punk is just trying to be goth, but it's like Green Day, Simple Plan, that stuff that sucks! Emo is like, "I hate life, dude. I'm always feeling sorry for myself" but not goth. There's a huge difference.
