I live here in San Antonio, it is on eof the best places I have ever lived. The city is all about culture. San Antonians celebrate different cultures every chance they get. This results in a sort of kindness between people. That is the best thing about San Antonio. (Plus: Sandra Cisneros lives here).

If you're downtown, Hemisphere Park, The Alamo, and The Riverwalk are all connected. I like to start by going up to the top of the Tower of the Americas (re-opening next week, I think, after a major restoration, in Hemisphere Park), take a barge on the Riverwalk (and get something to eat), and stroll over to The Alamo. The Riverwalk is great for those desiring an active night-life. There are also 3 or 4 more missions along the "Mission Trail" along with The Alamo.

I live in Seguin - a little town about an hour outside of SA - and the entire city is wonderful! but the RiverWalk is the best - but don't miss the Alamo and take one of the missions tours - if you are into Texas history - This is a fantastic city! and if you are of the younger set or have kids or grandkids - Fiesta Texas is fun for them and also the San Antonio Zoo is neat -

I live 20 miles outside of SA. It is a great town but the real fun is in the towns surrounding it. The Guadalupe River is a blast to float down. There is a huge waterpark in New Braunfels. And Austin is withing driving range. But absolutely, without a doubt, the #1 thing about San Antonio, Texas is THE SPURS!!!!! Go Spurs Go

The Riverwalk is worth seeing. But if you can make it to San Antonio during Fiesta, well, then you're in for a treat! Seaworld and FiestaTexas(Six Flags) are nice. Avoid August, too hot.

The entire downtown is fun, the market square, riverwalk, alamo, the mall, the antique shops, the big restaurants as well as the mom and pop establishments, the street artists, the friendly people and the feeling of safety downtown. Not to mention the hot cops on bicycles...great to look at!

The River Walk is one of the best features. Beautiful scenery, nice restaurants, plenty of clubs, large mall. The Alamo is ok, the historic missions are much better. Institute of Texan Cultures is a neat afternoon also.
