First, I would try removing the excess by simply scraping it with a butter knife, or putty knife.
Then, take a brown paper bag, and cut it open, so you can lay it flat... lay a portion of it over the wax in the carpet, and use a clothes iron, to gently heat the wax up again... it will transfer to the paper bag, lifting it out of the carpet. Just keep 'blotting' the wax with the paper bag and iron, a little at a time, moving the bag so that you are keeping the wax on the paper away from the carpet, and it will all come up. (you might want to just cut off the sections of it that have picked up the melted wax, so as not to run the risk of it getting back on the carpet, heheheh)
This is really something you should do with your parents permission tho.... if you get the iron too hot, you can hurt yourself, or melt the carpet.... and if you think they wouldnt be happy with a little wax on the carpet... lol... think how they would react it that! lol

Try a clean white cotton cloth with a warm iron over it. As the waxy crayon melts, it should bleed into the cloth, away from the carpet. Keep changing the cloth to a clean section until the spot is gone. Don't keep the iron too hot or hold it down in place for too long, or your carpet might burn.

Bad luck. But a small amount is alot easier than alot. I once spilled a jar of candle wax on a carpet that had been on my candle warmer. My suggestion would be to get out the iron and some paper towels. Put the towels on the wax, and run the iron over it several time until the wax starts to pull out. Get a new towel and repeat until you have the wax out. Oh, and after you're finished make sure you run the hot iron over some clean paper towels, or else your dad will have crayon wax on his good Sunday pants when they are ironed next. Which also would be a bad thing.

Use a lightly moistened paper towel, Fold it in half, place it on the crayon, and with a warm iron gently iron over the paper towel on the crayon. It should melt and stick to the paper towel. It may take a few paper towles to get it.
