I have a trailer hitch that has some rust on it. Is there a special type of cleaner or anything I can use to remove it? I haven't been taking care of it as I should and would like to clean it up some and am unsure of the best way to do that. Thanks.

ETA: There is rust on both parts, the ball and the black drop bar.

If it's the chrome ball you are referring to, as the others have said, Coca-cola will work about the best. If you are referring to the black part of the hitch, IMHO, take it to a body shop and have it sandblasted. This will remove rust that you can't get with sandpaper or a wire brush. Then prime and paint it (semi-gloss black) HTH!! Good Luck!!

Use silicon carbide sandpaper, 150 to 180 grit. For a full restoration, have it hot tanked, then replated with chrome, and then polished.
