I am a senior in high school, and I am behind in the steps I need to take to get into colledge on time. But I wanted to know what do I have to do in order to become an ob/gyn which has been my life long dream. I also need to know what do ob/gyn's usually major in? And what would be the best path I can take in order to become one.

First, get into a university and get good grades in a Pre-Med, health sciences, or biology major (Bachelor's Degree). Next, apply to several medical schools- they are very hard to get into, so if you get rejected the first year, keep on trying. Once in medical school, you'll spend 4 years doing general medical stuff, take state and national licensing tests to get your MD, and then spend 2-6 more years in residencies and internships at several different medical schools or large hospitals. Then you'll have to take more licensing tests to become specialized in the OB/GYN area.

So, it takes a lot of work and time- don't expect to be done with this process until you are at least 30. Even after you have received your OB/GYN licensure, you will have to spend many hours each year receiving the "continuing education" credits necessary to maintain your degree and keep updated on the latest medical advances.

Good luck- it takes a lot of work, but we need good doctors out there!

Hi Lucky gurl409 this has nothing to do with ur question, but rather I was just responding to the offer to assist with my problem.

the name of the person who keeps following me is crystal & benjamin and the question she posed that I had answered is: What do you think about Rihanna and her new song "Unfaithful"? Can you believe her?

If you want, you can check out my profile and see wat I mean when I say she keeps following me. Look for the Rihanna questions. And thanx. :)
