We just got back from the library and she didn't get a book because she couldn't find anything she liked. The Young Adult section isn't very big (2 rows) and she's probably read anything good there already. Can anyone suggest some good books/authors? She's not really into horror or murder mysteries.

I love reading the A-List. It's only disappointing because there are only like 4 books and it kind of leaves you on a cliff hanger. But my two favorite books are Someone Like You by Sarah Dessin (It think) and Go Ask Alice. I read all of these within the past year (my junior year in high school) and they all truly taught me several lessons to get through the year easier than I would have before.

Uncle John's Bathroom Readers. I own several volumes, I read then over and over. If you're not familiar with them, they are books of nothing but very cool useless facts. The histories of specific foods, toys, politics, songs, cars, etc. These books have something for everyone. The cool thing is that you can open the books up anywhere and read. You don't have to start from begining to end. ALOT of knowledge can be gained in these books, yet they are extremely fun to read.

I recommend any and all books by Lois Duncan, the "Whatever Happened to Janie/Face on the Milk Carton" books. Also like somebody mentioned, the Handmaid's Tale is fantastic and easy to read. Life of Pi may be a little on the sophisticated side, but it is a bestseller and absolutely amazing adventure. I would stick with Lois Duncan though, she's a prolific writer.

A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray is one of the best YA books I've ever read. It's not like those typical trashy YA books either, like A-List or Gossip Girl.

Anything by Meg Cabot is great, like Princess Diaries series, and there's also some good fantasy stories by a writer named Gerald Morris, he writes semiromantic fantasy stuff.

Also James Patterson is an easy writer to get into, books like "Maximum Ride" and "When the Wind Blows" are great sci-fi and fiction that's easy to read even by a teenager.

Does she like classics? Some of them can be very interesting for a 15 year old to read. I've seen the Young Adult section of our library - half of it is inappropriate crap.

Try reading Night by Elie Wiesel. i read it when i was 15. It is a little depressing because it is about the Holocaust , but it is one of my favorite books. A fun series to read at the beach would be gossip girls.
