Because she was beautiful, glamorous and tragic. That ticks all the boxes for gay men. Ellen is merely beautiful and gay. I cannot imagine her in a Versace frock getting into a car with a pissed driver.

People from every walk of life liked Princess Diana. If they were narrow or straight, gay or twisted into a pretzel, she was friendly with them. This I believe was because Princess Diana genuinely loved people. When she died, all people mourned her as was exemplified by the floral and monetary tributes given to her throughout the embassies around the whole world. No one cared about petty or even major differences at that moment. All that they could think of was, what a dear and sincere person Diana was and how we all had lost her. God Bless Princess Diana. For you, I want you to have peace and may God Bless you.

It not only the Gay its the entire world that admired Diana not because of what she was but cuz of who she was, her work towards humanity, she wasn't called Diana princess of Wales but Diana princess of hearts and she was one! Have you even seen any member of the royal family did what she did she was not like them she was different! She had money and she used it all on the poor... she was there for everyone he would sit with ppl with AIDS, HIV without legs or ppl who are dying she was a noble woman!! And when she died was not just the death of a princess but of the person who stood up for thousands of ppl from the 3rd world country and their hopes!
She did more than probably anyone ever has for those kinda ppl in her short life!

Namely because Ellen looks like an elementary school PE teacher.
I'm sure they like Diana for the same reason they like Barbra Streisand and Liza Minelli and women like that. Ellen really doesn't have any flair and she'd look ridiculous in sequins. Also, she's not the sort of woman that most little girls (and gay little boys) want to grow up to be: a star...or a real biotch.

I don't! However, when HIV & AIDS first gained notoriety and there was a huge scare, Diana was a key player in dispelling the myths (can't drink from the same cup/ mustn't touch them - they've got AIDS) that ostracised those poor souls who were afflicted.
Don't think Ellen Degeneres did as much.

Diana was an Open minded person. She actually touched AIDS patients, when the rest of those royals turned their blue noses at them. She (Diana) loved everyone.
