Depends on the message. Somethings don't come across well in a text msg. Some things are better said.

Texting is good if you don't feel like talking, but it really depends on if you get free texting. If I have to pay for texting I would rather call someone even if it is a straight to the point message.

Though i text a lot I feel its better of to talk. This is because now every time I have to pass a message to a friend or have to ask something I'm too hesitant to call up.I get this weired complex whether they might fell disturbed or whether they might have interest in what i say. Also ever since i started texting I find myself at a loss of word when I call someone up after a long time.By texting i feel I'm losing my confidence to communicate with someone directly and develop all kinds of unwanted inhibitions.

I'll say texting is a very handy tool with-in friends. But if you are really concerned about the subject simply call the relevant individual.
But calling should be with some meaning, not to make unneccessary time-killing attempts!!!
To manage certain messages, such as, "i'm on my way", "i'll be back by 4.00pm", could be texted rather than simply calling them up at a constant rate. It would turn up to be a nuisance.
Its up to you! You prioritize your subjects and then decide whether to call or text?
Good Luck!

I believe that it depends what you are trying to achieve.
If you have to use a cellphone, and you are watching your money, you should consider sending a text. The cost of a text is flat-rate, so you don't have to worry about how long you end being on the phone and its inevitable cost.
If the person you are trying to contact is long-distance, again you may want to consider sending a text. I text my father-in-law, who lives in the United Kingdom, and it is much cheaper to do so than to phone him.
If you don't have to worry about cost, or you can find a land-line, it might be preferable to simply call someone.
If given the choice, I prefer to call someone because I prefer the "personal" contact of a conversation. I find sending texts useful when the message is short and sweet or I don't really want to speak to the person.

It depends on the situation. If all I need to do is ask a simple question something that would have a yes or no answer I just text message. But if I really need to talk to someone, I would call them.

I much rather text than talk even though for me texting takes forever(I don't have a QWERTY keyboard and my T8xt thingy doesn't seem to work for me). I just don't like talking on the phone for chit-chat. I am down to businness kinda person. Get to the point and get off the phone

This depends on wheter or not you know this person well. If it's your mom, please call. If it's your friends (and texting is in) then feel free to text your heart out! Regarding your friends... if they don't like texting, then just call them This is a respect issue. If it's your boss, DO NOT TEXT! Again, this is a respect issue. It's a lot more respectful to call... better yet, set an appointment to talk face to face. Just use your better judgement.

It depends on the topic. I greatly prefer text message or email to talking on the phone, but some subjects just can't be covered by a text message.
Some people communicate better with their fingers than with their lips!

If I don't actually FEEL like talking, I text. But a phone call is more personal.
