I caught my son using about a year ago. I thought that after counseling and family support that he would lose interest, but he still ends up using. Is this stuff pretty tame or should I take the next step to some rehab facility? I also have a concern since these pills are laced with other things as well. Any suggestions?

That is nasty nasty stuff. It's got so much crap in it. I flipped out when I found out both my kids had tried it at some party they were at. I'm was never a controlling mother, but this crap crossed the line. I don't think they had ever seen me so upset with them. I'm not sure what effect my talking to them had back then, but I do know that it put some brakes on their behavior choices. Thank God they have totally outgrew all this stuff. When we get together we'll have a couple of drinks and laugh about those days.

YES you should be concerned. There is no such thing as recreational use of ecstasy. It is a drug, an addictive one, and an illegal one. He will go to jail if he is caught. He could get someone who has never used before, to use and then he is a contributor and ruining someone elses life also. Take whatever steps you need to now to stop it before it gets worse. And it usually always does. He will hate you now but thank you later when he has a life to live instead of being 6 feet under because of an overdose, or in jail for life. That crap makes you do wierd stuff. Who knows what he might do while under the influence. Save him, your family, and possible someone else. PLEASE!!!

There is no such thing as "recreational" drug use. Any drug use is enough to get him arrested, doing something stupid like letting an impaired friend drive him home, or even DIE of overdose. Even what some teens consider "harmless" party drugs are often a gateway to something much more potent.

Get him in rehab immediately. Don't take no for an answer. Even one use is too many, and needs to be nipped in the bud NOW before it ruins his life.

well, let's see... um, YEAH!!... Oh, wait, I meant to say-

Oh F------ H--- YEAH!!

E is nasty, scary sh-tuff. If you truely love your son, call the police about him. Counseling and family support weren't enough, so he needs to know you are serious about him stopping this.

Skip the rehab facility and go directly to the police. Tell them what steps you've taken so far. Let them know you are serious. They will help. Your son may not like you, but if he survives this, he will eventually know that you love him.

Besides, if there is a police bust or your son gets caught with it at school, and you didn't let the cops know, you could be held accountable for "tolerating" the substance in your home...

No. It does cause brain damage, but not unless the person does a lot of it. Whether or not your son is doing other dangerous drugs and is leading a lifestyle that could damage him permanently is the bigger question. Ecstacy is pretty tame and usually used by people exploring their own minds and emotions rather than heading down a slippery slope to self destruction as is usually the case with cocaine, heroin, meth, etc.

It doesn't matter if it is laced or not. Ecstasy is a very dangerous drug. Call the emergency room and ask the Physicians there what they think of ecstasy. You will get enough horror stories to help you make up your mind as to what to do. May God bless and guide you.

Wow, you should be very concerned! Your son can die from an overdose! Take him to a rehab facility right away, you will not regret it! This is very very dangerous.

Although you've attempted to prevent this in the past and he STILL uses it, it is not "recreational" anymore. It's "habitual". He's a user.
Intervene or someday, your son will be strung out and do something stupid.
