If he wants kids of his own, you should really think twice. I don't think it's fair to make the decision on your own.
In my opinion, having a kid of your own would be cool. You never know what will come out, how it will look, who's traits will be reflected on the kid. And, on the plus side, you get to live forever by spreading your genetic code!!
And, adopting a kid in need is a great idea. But, there are other ways to help them. You could always sponsor a kid. There are tons of charities and volunteer agencies that would appareciate any sort of assistance. Plus, adopting a kid does entail a bunch of bureaucratic paperwork and costs.
If I were personally in your situation I would definitely adopt 1 kid and have 1 kid. Hey, Brad and Jolie did it.. maybe it's the latest trend!

For a man, it is important. And, it's important to have a boy too. Someone to carry on the family name, and geneology. Don't spend too much time worried about global warming or crime. By the time these things become a significant issue causing deaths to humans in a great number, our technology will have already advanced further to create the weather, or track the criminal. Childbirth is an amazing miracle. And well worth bringing your own into the world. But don't get me wrong either, the idea of adopting is extremely noble as well. Good luck!

I think that there were parents in every generation who shared your concerns. Some of them had wars looming or were in major ones themselves, some had huge health crisis and others saw major political problems as reasons for concern. Our childrens children and their children will have equally alarming worries and most likely continue having children anyway.
I grew up in a city where crime was a huge problem, you couldnt take a walk at night, or during the day dependent on where you were. But you know what? I survived. I'm now 24, married and looking forward to adding to the family. If your husband wants to have children of his own, I would say go for it. When one person wants to concieve and the other doesnt, the stress that can follow can outweigh even global warning.
Oh, about how important is a child of your own? I've had really irregular periods my whole life and as careful as my hubby and I AREN't it concerns me that I'm not pregnant yet. I look forward to being pregnant, seeing his nose and my eyes (you know the drill...) and it makes me sad that there is a chance that that may not happen. I'd be willing to adopt if it couldnt, but i would prefer starting our family with one of our own. I think that there is something wonderful about knowing that you created something so complex, so wonderful and that you have nurtured it from day one.

That depends on you. By stating "having a child of your own", you are distinguishing a difference between a naturally conceived versus adopted child. The question is, could you learn to love a child that did not come from you? When you answer that, you can determine if adoption is for you.

I have never adopted any children. I have 2 children of my own. You will never truly understand how much you can love a person until you become a mother. You think you love your husbnd, that is nothing. I am sure it is the same when you adopt too. Being a mother is the hardest and most rewarding experience of you life.

I am very concerned about the state of the world. I had children (2) so that I can raise them to be concerned as well, more people to spread the message and make the world a better place. We are now considering adopting as well. Keep talking, you will figure out what is right for your family. By the way, I loved being pregnant and breastfeeding.

Your reasoning for no children is because of Global warming???
Lady...get a girlfriend to mate with your husband and let him have his own kid. You on the other hand should not procreate.

I think you're the only one who can answer that question. It's really a decision to be made between you and your husband.
I don't think biology makes a difference in how much you love your child, but if it's important to him, it's something you need to work out.
