A batter hits a slow roller between 1st and second base. In an attempt to get the ball the firstbaseman stumbles and falls and his cap comes off and the ball lodges in it. He, himself never touches the ball. The secondbaseman picks it up and throw the ball and cap to the pitcher, who is covering 1st base and forces out the batter. Does the play stand as an out or is the batter/runner to be considered safe because the firstbasemans cap struck the ball. What do you think?

Rule 7.05 covers a player deliberately using a piece of his uniform to touch a batted ball, but I would imagine that doesn't apply here, especially as the first basemen is not making the put out. I believe the runner is out.

The runner is out.

I'm pretty sure this has never happened in a pro game, but something similar has happened on more than one occaision that I've seen.

A hard hit ground ball goes back to the pitcher who catches the ball. The ball gets stuck in the pitcher's glove.

The pitcher then throws the entire glove (with the ball in it) to the first baseman. And the runner is out.

Again, baseball has no rules regarind HOW a ball has to be caught. Hat, catchers mask, shoe, hand, body... you name it. You catch it, it's caught.

The runner is out. The fact that a player's equipment touched the ball makes no difference, as long as the pitcher had control of the ball and was touching first base before the runner arrived.

out. just like if the ball gets stuck in the pitchers mitt and he throws the whole mitt to first. the batter is out if the ball reaches the base first.

The runner is out...as long as the ball is in contact with the player covering the bag on the out...the runner is out.....did you ever see when pedro martinez got the ball stuck in his glove and threw his glove with the ball in it to the first baseman and the runner was out.

I would just call him out and stick to it until the rule book proved it otherwise.
