My first car was a 1963 Ford Falcon Futura that stayed in the family for seven years. It passed between me and my sister until I moved to Kansas City in 1978. A couple of months before I moved back west it was stolen and wrecked in the bottom of a gully. I felt like a beloved family member was kidnapped and murdered! I sold the remains to a car crazy kid who was rebuilding a Falcon from spare parts.
I've never been sentimental about a car since. They're just transportation.
