Neither of the premises in your question are certain.

Perhaps we are immortal beings who did ask to "live" in these mortal bodies and we agreed to have our memories of our former life "veiled".

And death is by no means a certainty. While it is true that everyone in the past has died, we may be able to extend life indefinitely in the future.

So, where's the plan? I think we make up our plans as we go along. Or, according to my favorite quote: "Life is what happens to you while you are making other plans."

Good question.

While some people would argue that the entire universe is just some sort of random assemblage of sub-atomic particles that make everything, I agree with you that there IS a plan and direction. No matter what anyone says about the Big Bang, evolution, religion, philosophy, etc., no one has been able to explain what exactly it is to be alive. Of course we could put together all the chemicals and atoms it would take to make a person, but what is that spark that makes someone alive? To me, more than anything else that speaks to God's presence and Love for us. Even if you're not a Christian or don't belong to any sort of faith, I believe that you're right in that life and death are too complex and mysterious just to happen for their own sake. Blessings,

Brian

The great thing is that we are not just the product of our parents getting together. The Bible says God knew me before my mother knew I had been conceived. Psalm 139-(my favourite psalm because my Mum thought, and told me, that I was a mistake or accident.) Read all of it but especially from verse 13.
"For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be."
So I'm not an accident or a mistake or created in a big bang! God wanted me to live...to get to know Him, to learn through life what is His unique design and plan for me, to be in a family having God as my Father, Jesus my brother, and the Holy Spirit my friend, comforter, guide, teacher and healer. We have the map, the guide, the help we need to get through. And when my body dies there is a hereafter which will be unimaginably awesome!

We don't ask to die but it's inevitable buddy. Hey, get a plan A going. Since Christ promises life after death and He offers this as a free gift from God with no strings attacted, I'd say that's a fair deal. I'd jump on that bandwagon before it's too late. You only got one shot at life. Ya can't fix it at the judgment seat.

how can you ask to live before you existed?

even after you have existed for several years you couldn't possibly ask to do that until you have become selfaware and are have been taught to think in the abstract. Since the later is a human construction how can you infer that there is a plan? The question makes no sense.

either that, or we're so poorly planned, that we're a re born without a choice, in which case, our existence is merely the product of the combination of different factors that do not include a consideration to our existence and therefore we are ejected to this world. and thus, we have a chance to do whatever the hell we eant, because there a re really no strings attatched, since we're dying from the second we take a our first breath

"Some sorta Plan" implies a cosmic consciousness, if there then is a consciousness, how can you know you did not ask to live?

every intercourse brings life if you're not careful...That's the reason why we are in charge of taking care of those little kids because they didn't asked to be born.
