I've heard there's thousands upon thousands of pieces of "spacejunk" up there. A lot of it will, eventually, burn up in the earth's atmosphere as it gets lower & lower.

And every once in a while, you may even mistake some large junk for a shooting star.

A lot and if the US militarises space, then it will be a junkyard up there.
