For the best health of the yard, never cut more than 1/3rd of the blade at a time, so if you like it at 2", cut it when it is between 2 1/2" and 2 2/3". It will hit that at different times depending on the weather, etc.

Some people make a little mark on something, like a fence or lamppost, that they can use to determine when to cut again.

Once you start keeping track, you'll see what your lawn and situation like. Good soil and lots of water probably needs cutting every weak. Less water or poorer soil may only need it every 3 weeks.

Let your lawn 'tell' you when to cut.

Now- for even HEALTHIER grass, know that different grasses 'want' to be different lengths- some are healthiest when rather short, others 'like' being rather long. This also changes as the year goes- most grass likes being longest in the spring, then shorter as the year goes.

Really depends on a lot of things:

1. City code for allowable height of grass. Different cities require grass to be kept below a certain height.
2. The setting on your mower. The lower you cut the grass, the less often you need to mow it. Be careful of this though - too low and you run the risk of ruining your lawn, over-watering, etc.
3. How often it's watered. Again, this could go back to the city, since many have watering restrictions, or to the weather.
4. Type of grass. Some grass grows slowly, some fast.
5. Weeds. If you've got weeds and/or crabgrass, you'll have to mow more frequently.
6. Season. Grass grows faster in the long-daylight season.

Generally, what I've seen in the summer is that people mow the lawn about once a week.

I mow mine every 3-4 days, but it depends on how fast yours grows. I would say 1-2 times a week.

The answer depends on several factor. First the type of grass, how much rain (watering). A good rule of thumb is when the grass grows 1-2 inches it should be cut (unless you live on a golf course)

About once a week is what I shoot for, but it depends on the weather and the grass- sometimes it grows a lot faster then it does at other times. As long as it looks neat, you are doing it often enough!
