i play basketball...and right now,,i'm going to basketball camp because it is required in order to make varsity..i've been on my highschool's frosh and soph bball teams, and now i'm trying out for varsity..the thing is..there are only 3 more days of this camp, but then i DREAD going to it because i feel like i am embarrased and that i humiliate myself in front of everybody..i mean..i always try my hardest when playing bball..but then whenever i make mistakes, i'm SOO embarrassed and it's like i don't want to be there anymore..i try to comfort myself saying that there are only 3 more days left, but then i just don't want to go through the humiliation..cuz the returning varsity players are soo good, and i'm coming in sooo not good..i don't know..i just don't like dealing with the humiliation for 3 more days, which means 6 more hours...ahh!!! please help me!!

The best advice I or anyone can give you is to try not to let it get to you. Everyone makes mistakes. How you react when you make a mistake is what sets one apart from the other.

Use your mistakes for learning, not for embarrassment.

If you want to play sports, you have to understand that there will always be people better than you, no matter how good you are. Also, ther will be people worse than you. It just goes to follow. All athletes make mistakes, but the best ones use them to get better, not think of how badly they screwed up.

Loosten up, a bit. You know how well you can play. Just go out there, give it your best shot, feel good about yourself, it will show. Feel bad about yourself, and that too, will show. If you give your best effort, you can't go wrong.

Good luck on the remaining days of camp, don't sweat it, OK? Just have some fun, work hard, and learn.

Hope you make it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When the epic was of Mahabharat was about to begin Arjun the chief warrier on the Pandaa side developed cold feet like you. He had a more cogent reasn than you. HIs opponents were his brothers and to go for a win clearly meant killing them. LIke you he also felt like leaving the field and retiring. His Guru Shrikrishna told him that even if he gets killed in the battle he would ascend to Heaven and if he wins he would rule the world. He need not be so considerate for his opponents because had they not arraigned themselvlels him to wn. So take the sport in the right spirit. EVen if nobody will send you to Heaven if you win nobody is going to cast into purgatory if you loose including your side.Play the game, give your best to it and leave the outcome out.The ooposite team may also contain some of your own friends as well.

Very, very few people enjoy failing or not performing up to their standards, so you're not alone. It's hard when you feel you are not quite as good as others, but it's those challenging times where you typically learn the most. Only when you challenge yourself to become as good as the returning varsity players will you BE as good as them. My advice is to hang in there and focus on improving your game as opposed to worrying about humiliating yourself. Odds are, you are harsher on yourself (in terms of criticism) than others are on you. Hang in there!

Life life one day at a time, go with the flow, and you'll cross the bridge of tryouts when they come. You SHOULD be proud of what you've done...and don't worry. Everyone makes mistakes...even our president has made mistakes. See? It's not so bad. Pick up that ball and keep it rolling!!! Good luck with tryouts.

just quite and go home, forget about all the time and effort you put into it... i mean 6 hours is so long... plus those other kids the things they think about you are way more important than what you are trying to accomplish... plus everyone else who plays varsity was born with natural talent, they never had to practice... so give up...

Just go out there and give it everything you got. You sound like you have already done quite a bit so try to relax, have some fun and play hard and determined and you will be just fine!

Just relax. You will do better if you realize in a few years you will out of high school and you will never even see these people again. They aren't important enough to stress over.
