I have written several novelettes which I am trying to publish and I am trying to contact Mr. Spielberg to send the manuscripts to him so he can peruse them accordingly.

I think they all would make fantastic films.

Hi there. Believe it or not, I'm actually in the process of working on movie rights with several Hollywood entities for my new fantasy book, THE BLACKGLOOM BOUNTY. The one thing all of them have in common is that they will NOT look at your material if you are unagented. That's to protect them from possible lawsuits for plagiarism.

So, job one is to find an agency that will rep you, then prepare a presentation that will knock their socks off. Once that happens, you might have (realistically) about a one in 100,000 prospect of someone in Hollywood actually reading your material. That's not my statistic--it's what I've been told by everyone I deal with out there. The odds are soooooo slim, even for a highly reviewed new book like mine, that if you go it alone, you are simply wasting your time.

That's not to say it can't happen. I just wanted to give you the inside scoop about how things really are. I've been going through the process for over 3 months now, and still no definite answers. It all looks good, but I'm not holding my breath.

Good luck with your material. If you want to find a good agent, try the Preditors & Editors website.

You should get an agent who can help you out. If you send them directly to a director, they may just be thrown in the waste bin. There is a protocol for these types of things, so research more before you just mail off your work. Good luck!
