try and help me i dont have any lab equipment so i have to do this with house hold stuff

Take two plastic cups. Perforate both cup bottoms and insert graphite rods. Invert two glass jars over the cup bottoms so that the ends of the graphite rods are nearly sealed. Then connect the ends of graphite on the open end of the cups with wires to a 6V battery (check that the batteries are fresh!). Disconnect wire-battery connection till later.

hen, prepare an electrolyte solution in a PLASTIC tub. Here, there are two options. One is a solution of NaCl and the other is dilute H2SO4. I tried NaCl before, but it gives a generally low yield. Never tried H2SO4. From what I heard, I recommend you use that- but use DILUTE H2SO4 (careful not to touch any). Always make sure (either) solution is warm, so that electrolyte will be surely distributed.

Finally, lower the cups+jars in such a way that the water goes up 2/3 of the way up the jars (the graphite rods should be completely submerged). Then, reconnect wire-battery and wait... until water levels drop dramatically (takes a long time). Your anode (negative terminal) jar contains 02. while your cathode (positive terminal) jar contains H2. Check presence of O2 by putting a smoldering splint into the (still) inverted jar- it will reignite. Check presence of H2 by bringing lit splint into the (still) inverted jar- it will go 'pop'.

easy.
get a non-metalic) pan of water, add some salt, not too much.
get two wires, connect them to a battery, and put them in the water about an inch apart (this depends on the battery voltage, etc. )
Figure out a way to collect the gas that bubbles up from each wire. One of them will be Hydrogen, the other will be oxygen.
