throws his catching glove at the ball, misses it with his glove, and picks up the ball barehanded and throws the runner out at second base. Does the play stand? If not, why?

"barehanded" means without his catching glove on one hand.

The play stands, by Rule 7.05 (c & e):

Each runner including the batter runner may, without liability to be put out, advance-

(c) Three bases, if a fielder deliberately throws his glove at and touches a fair ball. The ball is in play and the batter may advance to home base at his peril.

(e) Two bases, if a fielder deliberately throws his glove at and touches a thrown ball. The ball is in play; In applying (b c d e) the umpire must rule that the thrown glove or detached cap or mask has touched the ball. There is no penalty if the ball is not touched. Under (c e) this penalty shall not be invoked against a fielder whose glove is carried off his hand by the force of a batted or thrown ball, or when his glove flies off his hand as he makes an obvious effort to make a legitimate catch.

the runner is out it does not matter if you have a glove on or not, I actually did this once. I got in trouble from my mom (the manager) for being lazy, however the fact is you can stop the ball anyway you want and if the ball gets there before the runner or the runner is tagged out then they are out.

I do believe the play stands...do not think the glove has a thing to with it as long as he throws the ball to 2nd and the 2nd basemen touches the runner he is out ....

did the glove touch the ball at all? if not then i say the play is good. If the glove did touch it, then i would not think so. so what happened did the play stay fair or what?

As soon as the fielder throws his glove I believe everyone is safe, runners and batter.

the play stands. i dont see why you think a ball field bare handed wouldn't count. people do it all the time.

if you throw your glove and catch it in the glove it doesnt count. thats probably what you're thinking of.
