It is really a question about this "new personal attitude" that people have about their personal rights outweigh those of the people around them. Basically it's, "I'm gettin' mine, screw everybody else!"

He's probably the one not breaking the law speeding. But I know what you saying about the whole attitude thing, I see it every day and people today just have no ethics and somewhere in the last generation or two the respect issue has been diminishing. I think this generation should be called the attitude generation, and the last couple generations are just sick of the attitude so are rebelling by giving it back, just think they are older & wiser, they have more experince in giving it back.

Why does the guy driving 65 driving behind the guy driving 55 think his right to drive outweighs the rights of everyone in front of him? Basically, its, "Screw your personal safety! I need to get to McDonald's before they stop serving breakfast!"
Just because someone chooses to obey the law and follow the speed limit, that does not make them selfish. It makes them safe and considerate of the safety of those around him.
They make the left lane for a reason. Just pass him, give him a friendly wave, rather than the finger, and go get your Egg McMuffin. Its human courtesy.
BTW, going 10 mph above the speed limit will only save you 5 minutes on a 30 mile trip and going 20 mph above the speed limit only saves you 8.7 minutes on a 30 mile trip. Are you willing to sacrifice your safety and the safety of others to save 5 minutes?

I drive 55 in a 60 not because I think screw everyone else but because I'm a single mom and you get ALOT better gas mileage at that speed than 60. Besides that, do you have any idea how much faster you'd get to a destination that was 20 miles away going 60 vs 55? Not much.

if you are wondering about why some guys drive 55 and slow down everyone then i get it. Sometimes I dont like to drive all that fast usually cuz im going to work and am not in a hurry. But when I drive its usually 65 and when its that slow i go to the right lanes with all the trucks. But yeah, then I have to deal with these douches driving 55 or 60 and they get mad when I pass them. Its like dude, do you really need to save gas or whatever you are doing there? But the guys that go 65 in the fast lane are the biggest retards of all. They singlehandedly create traffic and I believe that these guys are the reasons that I eventually sit in traffic for 45 minutes to end up somewhere with no accident. To all of you who do that...catch on fire.

Personally, I want the dude to move over and let me by.

If he is anything like my husband, he drives like he has blinders on. He is totally clueless about what is going on around him. Not to be rude but he is just not paying attention. He won't notice the cop car coming up behind him either. Then again he may be talking on his cell and you know people can't drive and talk at the same time.

I haven't heard about this "new personal attitude". There are always jerks in the world who think only of themselves. You do what you think is right. Their attitude will come back to haunt them one of these days.

I personally don't care unless they stay the hell out of my way. On the highway, I cruise at a comfortable 100MPH and anyone who is in my way gets the horn.

What really pisses me off is how people think the passing lane on a 2 lane road is there as an extra driving lane. It's obviously there for my entertainment, and anyone who trespasses on my property should be punished.

:)

I believe that driver is thinking something like '55 is plenty fast, and if anyone wants to go faster, they can just wait, or go around me.'

I also believe that this type of person feels that he is helping, rather than being an inconsiderate driver who won't move over to let faster traffic pass...

there should be some etiquette to driving on the highway

the incoming lane off the ramp should be 45mph minimum...minimum

middle lane (if one) 55mph minimum

right lane any speed you can safely go (no cars falling apart & shaking with things falling off)

if someone hits their lights behind you... let them just pass..like they want to go faster than you anyway

do not race to get infront of someone just to slowdown

get in the lane to get off of the highway a couple miles before the exit & not dart accross 6 lanes in one blocks distance to make it off the correct off ramp because you did not pay attention

do not tail gate just flash your lights to pass

look before changing lanes

& one of my favorites please don't do 100 mph on worn out, slow leak, fix a flat filled, under inflated, cracked tires. have the sence to at least invest in some good quality z rated tires if you plan to drive at those speeds often to avoid wiping out a whole highway or causing delays... so many delays are caused on highways because people don't pay attention to their tires: pressure, wear, speed rating, capacity, & handling

how many tires have you seen on the highway?

thanks to all that comply

Be the one to change that.
Be the one who does the right thing, in the face of everyone's crap, to make them stop and think about their actions when someone screw's them over.
