I love acting, but the only thing I'm worried about is my voice. I have a very deep voice for a girl, and I'm not that good at singing. I want to act as a job when I'm older though, do I need a good singing voice? how can I improve the voice I have?

Note: I'm a teenager and I'm in middle school theatre, high school theatre is harder, Acting as a job on stage is gonna be hardest.

GREAT! Congratulations on having something that sets you apart, that will get you noticed and can be used to a tremendous advantage!

You have a gift, especially for character roles, which are sooo much more interesting than leading roles. I know, I wanted to have leading roles, too, but it just wasn't in my body (which was large for a lot of my life). I got to play a lot of very cool roles becuase of it, honed my comic skills, and work a lot!

Singing is not a pre-requisite, and a voice can be developed as long as you have an ear for it, which most people do. Singing can certainly keep your voice flexible and you could attain some higher register. I was a counter tenor with a high speaking voice for a male and I have gotten my speaking voice lower, but retained a lot of my highter register although I rarely get singing roles anymore.

Please please please celebrate this gift you have, even though it may make you stick out in an uncomfortable way now, it can be an incredible asset in the future!

NarenderK is right, voices do change, but there are/were also many great actresses with deep voices. Usually musicals require the singing, but not everyone in a musical signs. Singing roles can come up in other forums, but Drama, Comedy, etc. don't rely on singing as much as acting. High school acting and drama class are great but you can also get some experience with local theater groups (non-Equity).
Private classes are also good , but there are a lot of people out there teaching acting who can't act well. Check out a local college drama department as well, most are always looking for volunteers and most actors welcome new blood.
Dictation and voice lessons can improve your voice, but so can local choirs and choral groups (for free). Often they are led or accompanied by individuals who instruct at local schools and universities. A low range female voice is usually an alto class and altos add the colors (harmonies) to the melody lines of the sopranos.
You've chosen early on a promising career. It's hard, and often you have to wait tables and do odd jobs to make ends meet between shows, but once the grease paint is in you blood, it never really leaves.

In live performances a strong or unique female voice is an asset if u enhance. Take voice lessons even if u can not sing professionally at least u will know how to project your voice, hold a note, and control your diaphram well. There are many ways to use your deep female voice. Have u ever considered a Voice Over career in commercials or radio stories.

im love acting too nd i am apparently pretty talented. i also really really really want 2 b an actor!!! Howeva i am really rubish at singin, i have a low voice too. U voice may change as u become older, even if it doesn't i wudnt worry that much. And also luckily there are many roles in plays that u dont need 2 sing in! Mind u it may be a bit easier 2 find a job if u can sing. Howeva u can train your voice by takin singin lessonz and practising often, and u wil gradually become better. But break a leg if u make it as an actor. lol.

first and foremost thing is that the voice of a teenager undergoes alot of change during teens ...the voice will wound different when you are aorund 21 or more

secondly. if u wanna start acting during u can go for some excercises which helps you to control your voice modulation.. such excercises are an integral part of yoga and meditation

and i dont think u shoud have a singing voice until u plan to sing.
U can find my legendary actors without good voice.. so voice is not a big issue.. issue is usage & modulation of voice with expression

acting is fun but it's tougher when you have a deep voice like me . most acters have deep voices so that other people can here them on stage . Haveing a deep voice is fine ,Its better then haveing a high pich voice, so sing your heart out most of the time talent scouts are looking for deep voices you can do more!

Julia Stiles is one of the hottest actresses with a low voice and no one really gives a care. You can get voice lessons. Even though you may not want to sing, it can really help with projecting your voice, breathing right, and controlling your voice.

you don't need a good singing voice unless you are going into musical theatre, and to improve your voice try taking an introductory chorus, like choral arts or something. Good luck

As someone in the theatre myself, I can honestly tell you that a deep voice will do you GOOD in theatre. It will make you stand out and you'll get noticed and remembered.
