Religion, despite popular speculation, isn't about right or wrong. And it's not bad if you don't ascribe to a specific belief. Walt Whitman believed in the presence of God everywhere--from a blade of grass to the ringing of church bells. It was all good. And Abraham Lincoln summed up his religious beliefs simply: "When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad. And that's my religion."
The meaning of life is, I believe, an individual definition. Your own beliefs, experiences, etc... determine what meaning you put to life.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the maning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

I have a few points of view, so you're in luck
I think that for whatever reason, it's not possible to know the meaning of life. I don't have that knowledge, I never will.
Religious people believe what they do for good reasons that make alot of sense to them. I don't agree, but I respect their choices.
I don't think it's bad to not have religion or believe in mass religion. I think it's ok. You're the one responsible for your decisions. So pick beliefs you can live with.
I don't see any logical reason that humans would be god's chosen.
There will be no consequences if god's a goldfish. I'm not really worried about it.
I hope you get more views, there are a lot of interesting people out there.

there is no meaning of life. you live you die...that's it. just enjoy it while you got it.
religion is a personal choice. some people like it and it helps them with issues etc. some people don't need it or just don't see the purpose. i don't think there's a wrong or right...just a choice.
the chosen people of god? if they are people then they must be humans right? god could choose a dog as it's chosen one i suppose. that is, if you believe in god.
even if god was a goldfish, that would still make it god. what's the difference?

I am Wiccan. I don't know what the meaning of life but I think it has to do with constantly searching for it. As who's right or wrong in the religious thing, I don't think there is one right or wrong. It's not a bad thing that you don't have a religion yet. You are probably still searching for what is right for you. I think God could be a Goldfish....but then I think the Goddess and God are in and of everything. My Gods are not vengeful but understanding.

Meaning of life: We'll never know. So don't focus on it.
Religion: Religion is form of control and manipulation. If you want someone to tell you what to do, any religion will do. It's not bad in my opinion if you don't have a religion. Rent "Dogma".
Humans are not the chosen people of anything. We exist. That's all we can do.
We're not goldfish. Goldfish are goldfish.

life means period of existence...people have different views about their lives and each meaning depends on how their life has been and how they look at it. I could say i have the best of life when i have a nice career and my beloved by my side and later on say that life sucks when you lose all your hopes and dreams as they leave...it is therefore full of mystery as each one unfold time after time..I dont have a religion too but i have nothing against it...if your religion makes you a good person, I dont see anything wrong about it...We were all created in the image of God. Therefore I dont think I could bow to a goldfish in my aquarium...

I believe, since I saw your avatar on another post, human are perfect, god is our father, and the meaning of life is to fight pass ourselves "Devil get behind me", and although I pick at the devil, I do believe he is a part of are greater plan with the holy spirt, who I dont believe fully to be the father, but the god of the Father, humans are chosen because were hear, and that's not the Jews, the Muslims, or anyone else, but all of us, and we need to find ourselves, and help other find themselves "teach a man to fish", so that we all can reach the new state of being, or a new evolution. All religions have hidden meanings, and they all have the same thing to say, one may say Jesus is perfect, the other will say only the father is perfect, but I say we all our perfect "48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect." and Believe in your self, no religion define you, you do faith is inside not on the outside.

The beauty of life and advancement is that your priorities change. No one here is going to give you the answer you require. You will already know in your young life that you have changed your views of many things, people and events. The best answer for you is that time is the best friend you will ever have. Experience is key. Good luck.
