How far along are you ? I know that there are states that have a no questions asked policy to keep infants safe. You would just drop the infant off at a hospital or police station. Check your state's department of Social Services to see if your state has this. I know New York and New Jersey have it.

Some people will actually put an ad in a classified column in a local newspaper. I have heard of people doing this while looking for a baby, too. That way, you can get to know the potential adoptive parents and decide whether or not you would like your baby to be raised by those people. Can probably help with your peace of mind. And it's easier to have an open adoption that way as well - you can keep the lines open in case you would like to meet or see your child in the future, or vice versa if your child ever wanted to meet you. good luck.

You're doing something really brave, not choosing abortion, recognizing if you can't raise the child, and doing the responsible thing by finding the child a family.
You could start by contacting an adoption agency in your home state.
Or you could contact your child welfare system to ask where they think you could start. They will most likely have a list of the most well-reputed agencies that can help you.
There are "pregnancy centers" around the country that help women by providing shelter while they are pregnant and helping them through labor/delivery. They can counsel you about finding your child's adoptive family. Gladney Home is one, Hope Cottage in Dallas is another .... you could google search for good places like these to get started.
Hey, much luck to you and many blessings on your journey.

thank you.
i have no idea where to start, but a client of mine did the newspaper thing that another answer said and she has no regrets.
she was raped and didn't believe in abortion. the adoption was open and she visits on b'days and holidays ; she even babysat when the child was a baby ( now in college ). my client was only 15 when she was raped and just turned 16 when she had the child.
her biological daughter and her parents (the adoptive parents that is ) were at her wedding and were there for her when she had HER first child. ( the child who was adopted was THE first child - not HER first child )
since you seem like you have the childs' best interest at heart i know you will make the right choice for everyone involved. and again - thank you.

I feel so sorry for you to give the the baby. But If you are in state of California, you can turn the baby in any hospital emergency room or fire department 10 days within the baby is born.

Find a local adoption agency and contact them with any and all of your questions. Many private agencies will also help with any medical costs and will give you options as to how you want to proceed....open or closed adoption, etc.

As an adoptive mom...I can tell you that you have COUNTLESS options. You can talk to your ob/gyn and let him know of your intentions. There are many religious organizations that can assist you too. Feel free to PM me if you'd like more help!

Contact adoption agencies, go to one of those Christian-based pregnancy help centers (they talk you into adoption and help you do it), or go to Social Services.

go into the phone book, look up adoption and call one of those places, and then they will be able to tell you more about it and be able to help you out.
