I waited a long time before getting my tattoo because it's a big deal. It's going to be with you forever, unless you want to undergo the pain of laser removal, which i hear is about a thousand times worse than getting that tat itself done.

When it comes to tattoos, the biggest rule of thumb is get something that means something to you. A lot of people just get a tattoo that looks cool, well tats that look cool AND mean something are a lot better. This little bit of artwork is going to be a permanent fixture of your body, it should be something that has some deep personal meaning to you. You also have to put some thought into where you're going to have it done on your body. I don't know how old you are, but you have to consider if it's going to become an issue when you step into the professional world later in life. A lot of jobs are unfortunately not cool about ink showing. Also, since you're a woman, if you think you might want to have children, you might not want to get it on your belly or anywhere that might stretch with pregnancy as this will also stretch your tattoo.

Also, you might want to go in and TALK with your tattoo artist first. Discuss things like placement, size, and the tattoo itself with him/her. They've done a lot of these things, they can help you in your decisions. Your world idea is a good one i think, rather clever. Oh, and make sure you look at some of your artists's work before you pick them.

When you've made all your choices, bring a bottle of soda, and/or a candy bar. Depending on size and placement, you're going to be feeling a little bit of pain, and your body is going to produce more adrenaline as it goes into "fight or flight" mode. As this happens, you may get a little bit light headed, but the sugar in the soda/candybar will help to fight this.

Anyhow, good luck with your choices! Take your time, and like i said, your artist will be able to help you a great deal.

I think it should be something personal, representing a moment or a memory, or something that holds great meaning to you. You don't want to regret it when you are 60 years old. You should take the time to have a clear idea of what you want before you go in to get the tattoo. That way the artist can give you exactly what you want. Do not settle for something because you are in a rush to get a tattoo. Whatever you do, do not just pick a picture off the wall of the tattoo shop. Make it personal.

If you are rushing to get a tattoo then you are not going to get something meaningful. A tat is usually to represent something of importance to you; something in your life, a memory, a person, a symbol of some importance. It is not something you just do. That way you will always appreciate it. In ten years or so you won't look back and wonder why you got it so quickly without being completely sure. I like your choice but is it really what you want? It took me three months to get what I wanted and exactly how I wanted it. I am so happy with the fact that I took the time out to research and take my time with the design.

When it comes to choosing your tattoo, I always feel you should go with something that MEANS something to you. Your idea of getting a little 'world' because your name means earth is a brilliant idea. My father chose his tattoo (that of a howling wolf down his back and leg) because his favorite animal is the wolf and he often feels connected to it, kind of like a spiritual animal. I would recommend you go with that same concept. Think carefully about what you want to get, it should mean something to you, and you shouldn't be worried about being embarrassed by it. You also want to think about how it will look in the future, as you get older. Not only that, but when choosing a tattoo the type of tattoo is not the only important part, but placement as well. Many people recommend somewhere that isn't going to change too much as you grow older. Talk with the artist when it comes to that choice, because they will often know best. If they don't know how to answer your questions, I don't recommend that you use them to put the ink on your body.

Get something meaningful... all to often people go out and just get a tattoo and it bears no meaning for them and they regret it later. 11 years ago I got a black widow tattoo in a web on my tummy and to this day I love my tattoo because it had significance for me then and it still does today. I would never think of removing it.
So make sure that ten years from now you can still look at it with pride, whatever it is...

what ever you get make sure that it is something that you will want to look at for the rest of your life. Tattoos hurt somewhat when you get them but the laser removal hurts worse. And depending on where you get it think that in the future things tend to move and get wrinkly. I got my first one at age 30 and i do not regret it. And make it something personal that you know your friends are not going to run out and copy

well if you walk in blind w/no clear idea you may regret it in the future. i have 7 and never went in w/o some kind of an idea of what i was looking for. why are you getting? are you trying to capture an emotion, event, etc.? talk to the artists, they could steer you in the right direction.

How about one that says "I went to work at a whorehouse, and all I got was this lousy tatoo"

what ever u get make sure u don't get something that everyone has, like a lower back one or barbed wire around your arm, get something that means something important to you and not something that is cute cuz it may not be cute when ur 80 years old.

Whatever you get, make sure you get it on your forehead. Forehead tatoos are the coolest!
