Firstly, because we tend to keep things that are important to us hidden and far away. In the last place that anyone would think to look.
Secondly when you have found it after much stress and worry it seems like the last place to look which of course it is!

Because you must be looking in your purse, where everything hides and settles to the bottom. Then you find your lipstick, stuck inside your checkbook and your shades are cock-eyed and hanging on to a buckle and then there is your change, you have to hang onto your purse and let it fall out to get it!
Anyway, it is really because you are obviously organized and have a place for it in the first place AND you put it where it belongs!
