I did and it went great!

i guess I could tell you that with my first child I did have an epidural with my first child when I was 8 cm. and it didn't work all that well, which I am actually happy about - I could feel everything it just helped to take the edge off the contractions. What I don't like about the epidural is that I would have had my son a lot faster had I gone natural. I never thought the urge to push could be any stronger after experiencing it with my son until I had my daughter natural. I guarantee I would have pushed my son out a LOT faster had I not had the semi-working epidural. I worked on pushing my son out for 3 hours, my daughter took 10mins. When I have my next child it will be natural.

I have two sons that were both born without any sort of medication whatsoever. I have an insane fear of needles so an epidural was out of the question. I also managed to avoid an I.V. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I took Bradley Childbirth classes and was taught how to manage pain without all that silly Lamaze breathing! Being able to move around during labor is key as well as learning to really relax your muscles. If you are attached to an I.V. or have an epidural you just can't. I also used a Certified Nurse Midwife the second time around and she made my hospital birth a lot easier by being very supportive.

I would encourage you to read Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way and if you are able to get Discovery Health on your TV try to catch "House of Babies". You will see women giving birth without any drugs--usually in a birthing tub.

Labor without medication can be done. Women have done it for hundreds of years! You just need the right frame of mind and a supportive health staff.

I gave birth to my son 5 mo. ago, to my daughter 6 and a half years ago, both were natural births, (no meds). two different births, two completely different stories. The difference in the amount, or intensity of the pain was so great, I still can't believe it. My daughter was so easy, compared to my son. With her I didn't cry, I didn't make any noise, I just pushed! And I was only in the hospital for half an hour, and there she was. 6 lbs. 8 oz. My son, on the other hand was 8 lbs. 2 oz. nearly 2 lbs. bigger than his sister was. and it hurt so bad, really bad. I cried, I screamed, I pushed as hard as I could, Any how, natural childbirth is absolutely the most incredibly pain full, amazing, beautiful experience I'd ever had. Words can't describe how wonderful natural child birth can be!

I have had 4 children and all 4 were born without any kind of medication. It was painful, to be sure, but even after wards I never once wished that I had been drugged up during the labor and delivery. I hate taking medication, but in the hospital I didn't refuse the offered Tylenol and ibuprofen after the birth!

I did not have an epidural, but they did give me a shot of Demerol I believe and even though the doctor gave me something I still felt the contractions anyway. It was like a had no drugs at all. One good thing is my labor was short and I knew when to push. My labor was 4 hours and 45 minutes.

It hurts like all hell in a hand a basket. If you take lamaze classes pay attention very close they worked for a Iittle bit for me but then I lost concentration with all the people in the room. I had back labor with with first born it hurts alot. If you have a high tolerance for pain go for it other wise your screwed. My second child I couldn't say much because I had a C-section.

I know several of my friends and my Mom who did. I was going for an unmedicated birth myself and was doing so until the danger approached of having a c-section and they finally gave me something to relax me after several hours of back labor. My daughter was born shortly thereafter. It's more of a personal accomplishment, I feel, and plan to attempt it again, as long as I don't have back labor.

Yes, it went fine I now have a lovely 16 year old daughter. Actually I went to the Lamaze classes & did the breathing exercises, etc. Your doctor or hospital should be able to hook you up with a class in your area. Good Luck sweetie:)

It was awesome! I felt every contraction (they were not painful) and pushed when I was ready. I used meditation techniques which is how I transcended the pain.

Just know that everything crosses the placenta.
