Oh absolutely. The cure for liberalism is education and intelligence. As long as Democrats can keep people poor and hopeless, and blame "the Man" then they have a constituency. When people are not desperate, it's too difficult to pull the wool over their eyes.

The Demarcates have good intentions in creating the welfare system which was also accepted by Republicans for its ability to assist the disabled, single-parent, and elderly of our country. However, people are people, and some will take advantage of the system in order to do as little work as possible while receiving free money from the government. This however is only one reason for poverty.
Other reasons include culture, education, family history (economic), and desire. In all truth, the world could not function without the poor or low income person who washes our cars, mows our lawns, or serves food for the better off. Some people refuse (do not desire) to get a better education in order to enter a higher paying job. Some families also just do not have the money to ensure a top education at a private institute or at the college level; although that excuse is quickly becoming obsolete with inexpensive public universities and billions in scholarship money.
In the end, the poor will be poor, the rich will be richer, and all politicians will claim to be for the poor (more votes) while catering to the rich (campaign money). For the record, I am a Republican.

Yes they do. What they do is create large groups of poor people and put them in city projects. They give them barely enough to get by and keep them dependent on the govt for support. Then every time there is an election they send buses to their vote farm to pick up there guaranteed votes so that they can stay in power. This has been going on since the middle of last centry.

I believe that the democrat party has historically maintained it's base by developing a dependency class in this country. That is why the republican party is often said to be the party of the rich or of big business. It's not because they favor the rich, but because they have not necessarily nurtured this dependency class for philosophical reasons, not for lack of concern for humanity. however, today the distinctions are becoming blurred and I'm not so sure that the lines can so easily be defined on this basis.

No, Republicans want to keep a large majority of the population poor and ignorant so that they can be easily influenced to spend what little money they have on consumer goods made by large corporations, which in turn make the Republicans richer with huge political donations. Most die-hard Republican supporters never realize, due to their profound ignorance, how much the political right takes advantage of them.

Absolutely not - just the opposite. It's ironic, but I'm poor, only
when the Repubs are in office.
I've never experienced over-blown gas prices when the Dems
are in office. And, that seems to be the most contributing factor.
Tax cuts for the wealthy - Dems have better sense. The consequences of this administration will weigh heavily on the
next pres. & he has my sympathy.

Nope. And that is one of the worst lies republicans have told to dupe people into voting for them.
When this country was more liberally run, people had MORE not LESS spending money.Read a history book.
Republicans today get their marching orders not from the voters, but from lobbyists on the part of stockholders to change laws that benefit only the rich.
Today's obscene financial divide and fading American dream is the direct result of republicans using political office for financial gain.

The Repubs are the ones who are destroying the middle class with inflation and the biggest deficit in history. This stupid war based on a lie has cost billions. The rich got a huge tax cut. Did you? Wake up and face the truth.

No, the free market Capitalist economy is what will keep them poor, along with an inadequate education system that makes them ill-prepared to obtain a high-paying job.

Ah you have finally figured out the Democratic platform.
Congratulations, Most of their so called leaders either havent done so, or more likely dont have the balls to admit it, at least publicly. All politicians suck, but Democrats suck more than others, to paraphrase George Orwell.
