j-walking is when for example you cross in the middle of the street to get across. You are suppose to use the crosswalks at the intersections but not always...sometimes there are legal crosswalks in the middle of the street for example in San Antonio, TX. The cross walks are designed for pedestrian safety.
According to Wilkipedia: Jaywalking is an American English term used to describe when a pedestrian crosses the street without regard to traffic regulations. In common use, the term generally refers to someone crossing a busy street outside of a designated crosswalk.

When used in the literal sense, jaywalking specifically refers to violation of pedestrian traffic regulations, and is therefore illegal wherever those regulations are enforced by law.

In many countries, such regulations do not exist, and jaywalking is an unknown concept.

J Walking is crossing a street at a non-designated crosswalk. Basically, if you are walking down a sidewalk and want to cross the street without waiting for a stop sign, or a crosswalk.

Jaywalking is the action of a pedestrian walking in or across a street without regard to traffic regulations. Usually it means crossing a busy street not at a designated intersection or crosswalk. In some places it can be a crime, because you are not obeying traffic laws, and endangering yourself and others.

its when you walk across the street without using the crosswalk. :)

usually people should use the stop sign light, where it shows the little lit up person walking, to know when to cross.

i just cross whenever i feel like it though. i think its a dumb law, unless youre a child.
