The day I saw Ed walk. Ed was 3 at the time. He had a rare condition that made all lobes of his brain fuse into one. He could not talk, walk, feed himself and it was questioned whether or not he could see. I worked at the preschool he attended and one day I was walking down the hall very fast. I turned the corner and stopped dead. Ed was with his Occupational Therapist and Physical Therapist. He was standing at the end of the hall and slowly put one foot in front of the other. With the help of his therapists, he walked. It was amazing. Ed was supposed miscarry sometime in the third trimester. Ed was then supposed to die a few hours after birth. Ed was then supposed to pass away sometime within the week. Ed did none of those things. We had cupcakes on his 3rd birthday and he walked. That day, i learned that there isn't a damn thing I can't do. To this day, if I ever feel like I don't want to do something hard or I can't do something, I remind myself that Ed walked and so can I.
