Your doctor probably gave you a list of common foods to avoid, the rest is trial and error, remember to remain in an upright position for at least 30 minutes after you eat or take any medication. Eat smaller more frequent meals, ppi's can take a week to really get going, keep your diet bland as well...avoid soda, caffeine, and the like.

Peptic ulcers are usually triggered by stress as it creates more gastric juices. You may also have an abundance of a normal bacteria called H. Pylori that could be attaching itself to the walls of the stomach, making the lining a little more susceptible to erosion. First step is getting a biopsy of the wall to see if it is over grown with the bacteria and then treating it.

Trying to eat earlier in the day and staying in an upright position will help in keeping the gastric juices away from the irritated area around the ulcer. Getting rid of stress or finding ways to calm yourself will help too.

well i have not been *diagnosed* with an ulcer however i know i have the h.pylori bacteria that causes such things and tons of gastro problems period.
don't eat late, don't lay down after eating
i personally drink lots of water because it helps with the pain and it' s natural. i was on prevacid for awhile and i thought it worked quite well i just can't see taking a pill for life when it's obvious i just need to change some things in my life like eating habits and exercising. try eating less also to see if that keeps pain from occurring

I'm a medical researcher. It is widely agreed among physicians and medical paraprofessionals, that initial diagnosis, mostly by using a typical acid reflux symptoms questionnaire, is necessary to ensure the most effective and quick treatment for this condition. Approx 70% of the acid reflux diagnostics that are based on the presence of typical symptoms are accurate. Since acid reflux, also called GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), can cause patients a great deal of discomfort and result in severe complications, it is highly important to know how to identify its symptoms in order to quickly diagnose and treat it.

If you know you have acid reflux you can try this natural program http://acidreflux.toptips.org

they are cause by stress, over eatting, under eatting, eatting certain food in large quantities that you are not really accustom to and medications. Treatment, milk helps reduce the acid build up, water helps the burning sensation (ICE), and you should see a DR for proper prescribtion med's. Protonex is a good one and Zantac 150 over the counter.

don't use spicy,no smoking no cafe,no Strong tee,no alcohol, and the doc will change your pills
and ask for an HELICOBACTER PILORY CHECK when you will have the gastroscopia
if it is bleeding a lot the doctor may advice an operation but this are very rare now days
some other medicine like ASPIRIN ,STEROIDS,NSAI,......SHOULD BE avoided if you have a diagnosed ulcus
but the best answers you can get only from your doctor who knows exactly your problem

Ulcers can be cured you can take protenex, zantac, prevacid etc. I think the only ones over the counter is zantac and prevacid I believe. Also I would see your doctor too. More than likely hell prescribe an over the counter drug only because it is cheaper for you or he might prescribe a stronger drug.

If you are on medication for something else refer back to your doctor. Some medicines will make the mucous in your gut thinner (so the stomach acid can then reach your stomach wall)

Also perhaps don't each so much.. if the stomach is full it will be stretched.

I don't think ulcers are ever cured....just controlled and you have to watch your diet for the rest of your life.

Well I'm sure this does not sound very good but try goats milk. If you mix it half and half ( half water/ half goats milk ) it taste alright. There are continents in the milk that coats the stomach and makes it less pain full. Hope this helps you.
