I had a situation wher my boyfriend and one of my good friends got into a confrontation. She started calling him out of his name, etc. He sat and ingnored her for a while. Then she said something about me and my ex, which is his first cousin. He flipped. He went over to her and grabbed her. It wasnt long. Then he let her go and walked out of the room to try to calm down. Then she followed him and started punching him and slapping him. He didn't do anything at first, but attempt to block her blows. Then she must've hit him too hard because he punched her once in her jaw. She fell backwards on the floor like dead weight and was unconsciencious. He immediately walked out the building repeating how sorry he was. The ambulance was called for her because she was bleeding out of her mouth and her head. He went and turned himself in. So the question I am asking you is was he entirely wrong because his reflexes took over him or was it not even reflexes and he was just wrong?

Is it ever right for a male to hit a female? - NO The rest of the story is irrelevant. It does not matter what she did verbally, it NEVER justifies violence. This concept also applies to a female hitting a male. Again, there is no justification.

I think in certain circumstances, like this one, it goes beyond a male/female thing and it's more so about respect. If a woman is big and bad enough to argue and throw blows then she should be prepared to suffer the consequences. Guys may be strong, but they are only human and have reflexes just like woman. I would never hit a guy or say things that I know would anger him b/c I know the consequences.

Well the circumstances around this incident made it so that the guy could consider hitting her, but he should never have actually punched her. The only exception to hitting a girl/woman is if she is trying to kill the boy/man. Other than that, the guy in this story should have just yelled "Shut the F*** up" or something, and left.

Instead of just taking her hitting him he should have told her to stop or he was going to call the police. I bet because she was the one knocked out he went to jail. I think its wrong for a male to hit a female just because he can but a person is allowed to defend themselves. Why did eve one stand around and not help him? Or tell the police the truth? I wonder if she really was knocked out or just faked it knowing he would get in trouble.

I think in this case she richly deserved it and really has no right to complain about getting hit. Women have no more right to curse and hit men than men do to treat women that way. If she wanted to be treated like a lady then she should have acted like one. But at the same time, he ought not to have done it. Men are usually much stronger than women, and it's easier for him to seriously hurt her even when he doesn't mean to.

NO! But, women need to start letting a man be a man. Ok speak your mind within reason. 50 even treatment. Man are stronger. If a male or female hits me that's it! There is a time to speak and time to keep quiet. And, you shouldn't annoy somebody on purpose. Love taps are okay.

Unless the woman is trying to kill him, it's NEVER acceptable for a man to raise his hand to a woman. What he should've done is leave the situation completely - not just walk out of the room, but leave the building.

I don't agree with violence, but one can be pushed over the edge. That girl was asking for it by prodding him like she did imo. Sorry for such a s***** situation. He's probably going to have a record now I'd think.

Plus she was hitting him so she was in the wrong too!

I don't think that it is right for a male to hit a female, but choking the living s.h.i.t. out of her or holding her very tight for restraint is perfectly fine. Some ladies out here ask to get hit and they should. But to just go off and hit a women or girl for no reason then no he has no rights. If its that bad go get a sister or cousin to beat her up. But if she asks for it by hitting you and stuff like that then choke her.

We wanted gender equality right, we should accept everything that comes with it. I think men should be allowed to defend themselves if a woman is hitting them. I think your boyfriend clearly needed to hit her if he couldn't stop her by other means.

But I don't think anyone should go around hitting anyone else, male or female.
