The cap on the blade entry of the saya (scabard) and the one sometimes seen at the butt end? Glued?

Using glue is not advised when building a real samurai sword, but if it's just for show, to be placed in a display cabinet for the rest of it's life, then glue would suffice. The same would apply to swords for use in the film and television (acting) industry. otherwise, do it properly and carve a thread in the cap, and the same thread on the butt, and screw it on.

depends on the quality. personally i would find out how exactly the samurai did it. if you are crafting it yourself i would be more concerned about the blade. DO NOT DISHONOR SAMURAI!!!!!!!!!!!! Ninjas do still exist by the way. and many ninjas were masterless samurai, or ronin, before they came to be ninjas.
