I don't believe there are any African Americans candidates currently electable to the Presidency but there certainly will be. As long as there are only two viable political parties it is unlikely either would totally support and promote a black candidate to the Office of President. Although both parties court the black voter and place prominent black persons to high positions when their party is in power, neither appear at this time to be willing to fully back an African American to the highest office. We still have a way to go until prejudices are diminished enough to support and elect a minority as President of the United States. This is sad and unfortunate but it is the way things are. I just hope I live long enough to see it happen.

Colin Powell.
And NOT because he's black...and WHY should that matter?

Mr. Powell is probably one of the few, true leaders in this country that could actually unite people on the left & right.
He is articulate, intelligent and has something lacking in both the executive and legslative branches of government: vision.

May God grant Mr. Powell a change of heart.

There never was one. That's not to say there never will be one. Just that it doesn't seem to be the choice of the voters. Frankly I think Colin Powell would be ideal. Forget Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton. They're both idiots and Jesse Jackson isn't even qualified to carry Martin Luther Kings underwear, another black man who would have done wonders for blacks, whites and all Americans alike.

I don't think it would happen in this life time. I am a black man myself but I just don't see a black man or woman running this country successfully. There is just too much to fix and being that he/she would be black it would bring on finger pointing for the country's dellimas dating back as far as anyone can remember.

I thought black population is in decline comparing to Hispanic population. I would say the next non- white president has to be from the largest group of minority.
