I believe that is more of a statement than a question.

They aren't selling tickets because they insulted the moral values of many of their fans.

I can see Pearl Jam and Tool speaking out against our government, but most of their fans are liberal, so it is more acceptable.

Dixie Chicks fan base is conservative, they insulted a conservative president = Stupid.
Free speech is great, but they should have considered their careers. Just because you have an opinion about something, doesn't mean that you have to give it all the time.

I am not against free speech whatsoever. What I am against is Artists using their notoriety to support politics, misleading many people. Politics has always had some influence on the music industry, because it reflects the times and culture. But having musicians crusade for some cause is misleading. I think that they should stay out of the political atmosphere. If they want to talk politics, become a politician or public speaker.

....I'm off my soap box now.

For one thing, they aren't getting as much airplay as they used to (many stations are still enforcing a ban on all Dixie Chicks music based on Natalie's comments in 2003). Many stations didn't even mention the concert was scheduled.
For another, shelling out $40 for a concert ticket is out of reach for a lot of people right now with gas prices the way they are. Note that the Chicks are very popular in the Northeast, where driving distances to concert venues are much shorter.

The Dixie Chicks dug their own grave in the music industry by attacking Bush and not appologizing for it and by doing that started to get fans to move on. If you want people to come to your shows you don't go and attack someone because of what they did and not appologize for it. You get less respect than you did before you attacked or criticized someone. Plus, they are being assholes by standing up for what they did and don't care about what anyone else thinks, but when they realize that people aren't coming to their shows, besides the people who agree with them, and cds and other merchandise is declining, then they may see that what they did was a mistake.

Why is their CD selling so well is a better question. If you love America so much, you have to love their right to free speech. The freedoms we enjoy are what those men and women overseas are fighting for. To be against free speach is to be against their mission. Support the Troops. Support Free Speech.

Yes the chix need to realize that people listen to them for their music not their view on politics -- if we want political advice, we will put on CNN or MSNBC or the such.

You know -- I personally don't care what Natalie believes or thinks because she is a singer (not an excellent one - but a singer, no poli-science major). She needs to shut her mouth about her personal opinions and sing the freaking songs she use to get paid for. It is so obvious that is what the chix fans think too.

I think its a shame that their once "loyal" fans have turned their backs on the Chicks for Dear Old Bush. Now they are the ones with their loved ones stuck in Iraq.

One of the reasons could be that fans can hear their music in any fav. place by having the album itself & not buying the tickets for 65$ .

but of course talking against the president has it's consiquenses...

I live in the south and I will buy their tickets any day of the week. They are bold, sassy, and wonderfully talented. They were right to say they are ashamed of President Bush- so am I!

Actually, some of us are buying it still. Some of us have a profound respect for the stance they took, and for the fact that they were and are willing to risk their careers and their income to stand up for their beliefs.
