I'm an engineer, I use both. European engineering companies work in metric, the US is imperial. I'm bilingual.

I use both though I actually prefer recipes that are Imperial. Here in Canada, the metric system started to be taught in schools when I was around 9 or 10. It was phased in gradually and I got used to both systems.

u see i use metric i think imperial is old style to be honest + metric system is most popular now. i would recommend it myself. people have different opinions about this my opinion is METRIC
some info on metric units
One goal of the metric system is to have a single unit for any physical quantity. All lengths and distances, for example, are measured in metres, or thousandths of a metre (millimetres), or thousands of metres (kilometres), and so on. There is no profusion of different units with different conversion factors, such as inches, feet, yards, fathoms, rods, chains, furlongs, miles, nautical miles, leagues, etc. Multiples and sub-multiples are related to the fundamental unit by factors of powers of ten, so that one can convert by simply moving the decimal place: 1.234 metres is 1234 millimetres, 0.001234 kilometres, etc. is another reason i like metric systems

We have to use both in the UK, but only because Britain dithers over the complete changeover. We sell beer in pints and petrol in litres. We measure materials by the metre but distances in miles. We measure our weight in stones and pounds but our vegetables by the kilo. No wonder some people get confused! Personally, I prefer the metric system, it is easier to use, and I am not a young person. (I left school in 1959).

I'm a Canadian so I'm stuck in the middle... My height in feet and inches, road distances in kilometres. Stupid, eh? But I can't understand fahrenheit or pints and quarts at all... I try to use metric as much as possible because it's the logical thing to do.
