I'd like to present the other side of the argument here. Have you ever seen professional yo-yoing? My brother is in the UK top ten, and watching is amusing yet fab. They do all sorts of strange things.
Also, he buys his strings in packs of 100. So there :-)

Around here a yo-yo is the person you date for awhile then brake up with, then you are back together, then you break up again, then you are back together so on and so on. When the other one moves on and won't take you back, your string is "broken".

That means that your yo-yo broke now you have nothing to do. I would buy a new one. A pink one.

if it IS a figure of speech, "I have nothing to do anymore. I used to be occupied with mindless-but-harmless entertainment, but it got old after awhile."

if it ISNT a figure of speech, "my yoyo broke, and no i have nothing fun to play with"
